As I understand, there are certain documents that one must have in order to get married to a Russian woman in Russia....

1) copy of passport info page - notarized with apostille
2) copy of divorce certificate(s) - notarized with apostille
3) no marriage letter - notarized with apostille
4) completed marriage application - notarized with apostille

I've also read something about a "marriage letter" which supposedly must be signed by me and notarized at the American Consulate in Moscow and authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  But, I'm not sure if this is really required.  It sounds very similar to the no marriage letter which I got from my state office of vital statistics.

Also, my fiance believes that she can file the application (with supporting documentation) by herself, and that we could then get married after the "required" 30 or 32 day waiting period without me having to actually be there for over a month.

Does anyone have any experience and/or knowledge about this?  What documents are required?  Can she file the application without me being present?

Thanks in advance!

Don
