... in response to Re: Stay tuned, posted by Oscar on Jan 12, 2003Well, it certainly goes into the gutter around here often.
I originally showed Victoria this because she asked me why I was writing up our experiences in Warsaw.
She has a much healthier attitude towards all of this than I expected. She is a little amused by it all. And, as I wrote to BarryM above, she felt that if I started to tell our story on here, that it was important that people know that the ending was and is a happy one.
As for the whoe the LP thing, it kind of steam-rolled.
I honestly think it just started because he REALLY doesn't like me, and didn't like the fact that I found someone. He wanted to tell me -- as he did Stan -- just wait, it won't work for you... but he wanted to make it even stronger.
The fact that Victoria is from Kherson, gave him the perfect opportunity, so he said that he met her. And he did it in a way that made it seem like it was more than just a casual lunch. His reference was that I was not like the enterprise, meaning the "boldly go where no man has gone before", part. I read that as him implying that he had slept with her. And I was not alone in that interpretation. ... even Greg aka theSearch thought so, and made a post to the effect that LP's comment was in extremely bad taste... Maybe it is just when I grew up, but I've heard guys use that "star trek" reference before, and it always carried a sexual connotation to it.
When confronted about his comment, he backed off. He said... MAYBE he met her.
Then he came back later and said that he had met her. This is a consistent pattern. Plausible deniability is definitely his MO.
So, he tried to say he was only pointing out that I was an insecure jerk because I couldn't handle the fact that maybe he had met her first.
My stand all along was that I really didn't care WHO she met before me. Why should I? It isn't like I have never met anyone before. She's 31 years old, gorgeous, and has a child. Since there was no star over Kherson and three wise men didn't show up there seeking a child in swaddling clothes... I was pretty sure that she had met people before. And even had sex before me.
Who she met before me, I didn't care about. Still don't.
However, she told me that she had never met an American before. I believed her (for several reasons -- not least of which that she didn't speak English before she met me).
When I said that I chose to believe Victoria -- whom I knew very well, in lieu of LP, whom I knew hardly at all (but that which I DID know caused me to mistrust him...) He told me I was an insecure jerk, and I was in for trouble. This was the start of the "she's a bad one and you're going to wish you had listened" theme...
That was the last I read of him. Others would write me from time to time and tell me of things he said. (Why, I don't know.)
Then LP "called out" BrianN and told him that he had incontrovertible evidence that he had met Victoria. He would tell him something that would "put a stake in" my heart. Brian wrote him, apparently, several times. LP -- typical to the way he works -- would hint about things, and then back off of them. Never was any evidence produced.
But he HINTED at all kinds of outlandish things.
He even hinted that he had delayed my INS approval by a few weeks... which is incredibly pathetic. Brian told the board about that in a thread that got deleted. (Unfortunately, it was in a name-calling firefight, and Patrick deleted the whole thread. It was a really funny post though... too bad...)
Brian is now in Siberia, btw, or he could corroborate all of this. He writes me from time to time, which is how I know most of this. (He is with his fiance, btw. Hats off to him...he's there for 6 months...)
Anyway, LP's innuendos worked. Before long I had others picking up the thread. Globetrotter told me to get on my knees and beg LP to tell me what he knew... BarryM, Jack (and even you) took what he said for truth.
LP was probably laughing his arse off over it. His tactics worked. He never really said anything directly... but everyone picked up on the hints, and before long it became accepted by some that: LP had met Victoria, and passed her over because of something he saw in her... and that this meant I was in for trouble eventually. LP had found something in her character that I had missed. He passed her over, and moved on to better things.
See how that works? Without actually saying anything that he couldn't deny, he was able to get his story out which said (by implication) he was a better man, and his woman was a better woman...
He really is good at what he does, I will give him that.
Not that he really cares about Victoria one way or the other, mind you. But in order for him to keep his "legend" going it is important that others who succeeded where he failed only manage to do so by accepting lesser women, and of course, that means that eventually their marriages will end in divorce.
This gives him about a three year window to keep telling everyone his schtick. Unfortunately, every month that goes by StanB keeps becoming a bigger and bigger problem.
You weren't around here when he predicted doom and gloom for Stan... exactly like he is for me. Oh, and by the way, he also told KenC that Lena was too young and would eventually leave him.
Ken has reached a point where it is getting harder and harder to say that Lena just married him for a green card. How unfortunate...
Stan is getting there, too.
It will be a couple of years before I get there.
But if these success stories keep mounting up... where in the world will that leave LP?
Two years from now, Stan will have been married for years, KenC will be past the five year mark, and Victoria will have her green card -- and she'll still be with me.
It gets harder and harder to say that all of these men are just stupid idiots who have approached this all wrong... or that they were lucky... or that they should have listened to the wise one who told them that this would never work.
Every day that passes, he draws nearer and nearer to insignificance.
Did he ever offer "good advice?" Well many people on here say that he did... so I'll yield that point. I always thought the bad outweighed the good.
But... in any event... what the hell is he doing here now?
He tried and failed at this. He brought a woman over, and sent her back before 90 days were up. He is (supposedly) happily involved with a wonderful Asian-American woman.
He's not interested in Russian women. He isn't married to one, and (according to him) never will be.
Why is LP here?
The forum jumped all over DavidSD for hs recent posts. But, in actuality, they were a lot more relevant. If DavidSD's stores were true, he is still at the tail-end of a relationship to an RW. So, from that perspective, at least his comments were relevant.
What does a man who isn't searcing, and isn't in a relationship with an RW, doing here? How are ANY of his posts actually relevant? And if they are... why wasn't DavidSD's?
Anyway... I've rambled on enough. It's late and my ears are still ringing from the club's music. But I wanted to try to put this in perpective.
