Two questions. When we submitted our AOS at the Boston INS center at the end of October, we were given a letter saying our appointment is set for March 10, 2003 and that the fingerprinting is to take place between December 23, 2002 and December 28, 2002. [QUESTION-1] What confuses me is that my wife had fingerprints taken on the day we submitted both our AOS and also obtained our EAD - how come again? and where? [at the INS office?] [QUESTION-2] We had also gone to the SSA office that same day and submitted an application to obtain an SSN which she received last week with an accompanying letter stating that "due to a conflict" our original interview date has been rescheduled from March 10, 2003 to June 10, 2003 - should we be worried?

Another thing to do is when they do the green card or EAD fingerprinting (which is just one finger that is actually on the card) make sure it isn't smudged and is a clean print.  Believe it or not, our tax dollars are at work paying someone to check the quality of the prints, so make sure your paw print is nice and clear.  Otherwise, you get to make another trip to INS and to do it again, which is another unwanted delay.

We went through this same procedure here in California..

I think the figerprints taken at time of AOS were "only" for the EAD card.

The special trip to your "local" INS field office for fingerprints is for the background investigation before the interview. Check the INS web site for location.

At her AOS interview they will take another fingerprint of her, this time it is for the green card itself.

You would think INS would be more efficient and use the same fingerprints for all procedures...
