I'm collecting different interesting Russian dishes and cooking them for my friends and family. What I'd like is some of your favourite recipes from Russia and Ukraine.

That's a little more like what I wanted. But I was actually hoping to steal some of the secret family recipes from the wives or girlfriends of the guys here.

The mustard and drinks ideas weren't bad.

I've been on my fiance's case to send me some recipes , just some simple stuff like blini , drahniki , and borscht...if she ever gets around to me any of that stuff I'll post it for you .

I have my girlfriends blini recipe. Her mother cooked tons of it for me while I was in Vladivostok. One interesting family recipe that I have from them is for "ñûðíèêè". It's sort of a pan fried cookie made from cottage cheese. Very tasty but I can't seem to duplicate it here. They made me cook batches of it in Russia so that I knew how. But the cottage cheese here isn't the same.

I don't think I've ever tried drahniki. Borscht I've had many times both here and there. Every recipe seems to be quite different. Who'd have thought you could do that much with beets?

It'll be nice if I can try out some of your fiance's recipes. I've actually developed a taste for Russian food.

I was only being sarcastic with the above post -- what I really want to know is why did Globetrotter jump in from outer space with his "I'm amazed" thread and what's he smoking?  What about the rest of you that followed?  None of this crap has anything to do with recipes.  If half of you people are on serious drugs I'd like to know so I can alter my future posts accordingly...

Personally I like the idea. What do you think I can sell Phil's mustard recipe for? I'm scraping together enough cash for my next trip to Asia.

As for what they're smoking... I've got an old buddy from school who's a dealer and he could probably find me some if I was so inclined. Not my style though.

Where do some of you people come from?  I read with amazement the love, trust and faith some of you put into women you have only just met.

I, also am taken in by the number of FSU women looking for mates, their potential charm, looks, possible virtues and other good qualities.  

In Vietnam, those who got R&R in Bangkok, had dates, lovers, wives if they chose, and thought they were in heaven.  Not so different from the situation here.

I read with interest the newbies here who ask questions.  Some are truck drivers, welders, farmers, all of which are honorable professions, who think they have found "Nirvana."
If you believe Irina Petrova's articles (she is from South Africa, formerly from Ekterinburg, married to a South African, alledged to be "mobbed up" who sells profiles for $10 or monthly magazines for $100).....all is wonderful.
Reality is....women are women, anywhere you find them, anywhere in the world.

Some men are lucky and meet the woman they will love forever, but you could do this here if you work hard enough, have the skills here or there, then it doesn't matter.  The biggest advantage I see to this persuit is the hundreds of thousands of women you have to choose from...some wonderful, some with agendas, who will love you, hurt you or worse.  The devil is in the details!!!

I applaud those of you who, as I do, look at this form of meeting and dating as an alternative, but if you think this is an easy way, or an alternative to what you know or are used to, or don't have the money....a great deal of money to pursue, I think you will be eaten alive, and not know it.

Women are women....anywhere in the world you meet them.  You may start out with better stock from the FSU, but then YOU make them Americans.  There are 3 laywers and a judge in my family.  The judge says....if you bring a woman from another country and marry her, you are responsible for her and her children....the INS tacks 10 years onto this.

Just know that I love them also.  Just know....more to choose from, more to teach them, an incredible financial penalty to pay if you choose badly, but great benefits to gain if you choose well.

Choose Well....and I hope I have not insulted anyone too badly....

There is opportunity for both sides.

Over there, not as many good men available and their economy overall has some major problems.

Guys here are merely taking advantage of these two issues to attract a woman that it might be safe to say is a quality woman they could have difficulty finding at home and even if they did she might be hard to win.  

Some guys pick a woman who is about the age and beauty that they could attract in their homeland - others push the limits - some a little - some a lot. As for the latter, Some get away with it some do not.

The bargain hunters go where the bargains are plain and simple. Even guys who could not buy a date at home can get someone interested over there. Guys who have no trouble finding women here can simply get better if they spend enough time at it.

Yea, some guys will risk a lot when a gal half their age and more attractive than anything he has ever held in his arms is asking to be taken home. LOL

Nothing said in this post that hasn't been said a million times in other posts.

Sure, there are challenges. That's a given.

But there's quite a bit of "mis-information" in this one, too... starting off with the comment from "his relative" the judge.

I will say that this whole journey isn't for the timid.
