I was referring to Globetrotter's post when I said it was trite.

Sorry for any confusion...

... in response to I Am Amazed!!!!!, posted by Globetrotter on Oct 19, 2002

...you think you're amazed now? It'll soon turn to astonishment. There is a real cult mentality operating
among some of these guys. They'll do anything from drink bad KoolAid to wait for the Mother Ship if they felt it would bring an FSU chick to them. (lol, them odds are just as good.)

You'll find the ones most loving, trusting, etc, are usually the same ones most scammed, lied to and broken hearted. You'll also find the ones most excited after finding a girl quickly are the ones who were the most desperate beforehand. So happy now that they've solved their "problem", they'll hurl up huge doses of useless advice.

So if you're interested in bizarre human behavior, stick around. It gets WAY better.

You are smart, you are cautious....with an acid tongue.  I liked your posts because they smacked with reality.  No harm in this. Some of your friends here will never have the capacity to learn, but we are not our brothers keepers!

As I have stated before, I see one major difference in searching in FSU vs in USA (or maybe Western Europe, Australia, Canda, etc.)

That difference is that a guy can 'date, visit, investigate,' or whatever you want to call it, a much larger number of ladies within a given time span than is possible elsewhere.  They ladies aren't more interesting or attractive than elsewhere.  There are just more interesting and attractive ladies available, period.  It is a very 'time efficient' place to search.  Of course, if the guy does the WOVO approach, this advantage is wasted.

I'm not sure why you posted this under my request for recipes. But I'll give you some of my history and why I'm in this "adventure".

I spent quite a few years helping to pull my family out of a bad situation my father was in. After things settled down I started trying to date again. There were some problems. #1 There aren't a lot of women in there mid 20's near me. #2 most of the 20 something women that are here, I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole. The feeling seems to be mutual in many cases. The bar scene is a terrible way to find a woman even in the cities near me. I don't need or want a drunken, barfly, party girl.

So I turned to internet ads. The nearby girls who had the qualities I was looking for weren't that interested in me. I'm just a broke down cowboy. So my search area got larger and larger. Girls from Europe, Australia and New Zealand thought I was okay. Just never found one who I thought was the one. Then I stumbled onto Russia.

I'm young and okay looking. The ladies in Russia and Ukraine love me. I put an ad out and I get dozens of replies a week. I got one or two a month from North America. I wrote to a lady for 8 months and then worked up the courage to go over. It was the biggest adventure in my life but definitely not for the weak of heart. Things went badly between me and her after knowing each other for almost 2 years and me spending several months with her family in Russia. It hurt but no worse than my failed relationships here.

Was it expensive? Oh, ya! But I know people who lost more money in local dating. And I got to see a part of the world not many people from here have. I made some good friends. All in all it was worth it. Much better than sitting here with my head up my @ss whining about how lonely it is.

Are there risks? Yes. Do your homework and decide for yourself if they are worth taking. Do the ladies have agendas? Yes. Take your time and get to know the ladies and learn what they are. Do we need to be very careful? Of course. But after many years of searching North America I haven't found many girls who interest me as much as average girls from Russia. I've come much closer to finding my ideal, dream lady in Russia than I did here. I still look here and If I find what I'm looking for closer to home I'll grab her. But for now Russia is my main focus. There one girl there who is very dear to me, but we are just taking things slow and learning more about each other. Never of us is the kind to leap before we look.

I didn't choose Russia. Russia chose me. The letters I get from Russia far surpass anything from elsewhere. These are beautiful, intelligent, educated and cultured women. And yet they are still very down to earth, sensible and easy to get along with. The RWs I've written to genuinely seemed to be trying to get to know me. We talk it all from world politics, literature, movies, music, love, sex, life. Too many people I know here are specialists in a certain area. They can't talk outside of that area. It gets dull to have the same conversation everytime you talk to the same person, year after year.

Oh boy, that got a little long! You haven't offended me but I thought I'd explain some of my reasoning.

I applaud you.  Your quest seems to be well thought out, while you ask yourself good questions and ask the same of your girl.  I just think your approach gives you the best chance of success.  We all need to do the work, and at sometime, like you probably have discovered, that you will need to have more patience, and actually be better than the best partner for your new bride once she is here.

Good for you.  I am trying to do the same.

Best of luck!

First off, your relative the judge is mistaken. I hope he doesn't specialize in Immigration Law...

But as for the rest of it... to each his own...

But, clearly, if we all thought that we could find the same woman here that we could find abroad we wouldn't go.

Ask yourself this: With the phenomenon that is the "MOB" business... and the fact that it is growing daily... do you honestly feel that there is NO reason for it?

Do you REALLY think that millions of guys would be looking for women elsewhere, if the women here were "just as good?"

Do you think that all of us got our start in this by reading articles by "Irina Petrova?"

I am sure you have heard the old expression: "Where there is smoke, there is fire."

Well, it has been beyond smokey for some time.

The fact that you haven't caught fire yet, doesn't mean that it isn't there...
