Thanks Jeff,
The man behind the asian sweetie web site. For myself I know
nothing of web design, It must take some work.I also looked at your
picture profile and it mentions your wife is from Yokohama,Japan.
I have been there number of times aboard merchant ships. I never
got to the country side. As for Yokohama and Kobe to me were
great cities, clean , and safe. I remember for Yokohama having a
great seamen's club and I also spent some time in chinatown.
I am surprize not seeing no posts on the board on relationships
of Japanese woman. My first love was a lady from Toyko and that
was one of my reasons I married an asian lady

Hey Jeff,

I think Arnold would be the perfect mascot for this forum. The “Male Chauvinist Vietnamese Pot-Bellied Pig”.

But first we need Febtember to take a closer look and make sure Arnold is really a male and not a gay pig. I thought I detected a hint of a limp-wrist syndrome in that photo. If Feb will promise not to turn Arnold into a lechon baboy feast or a big pot of dinuguan, I vote for Arnold for President of P.L. (no offense Patrick - LOL!)

I was happy to see real people when I first started down this road. When I finally sent in photo of Carmen and I it was an important step for me but WOW Carmen's response was great. She was very happy that I wanted such a public display of the two of us.

It really isn't that much work to keep up. I have fun seeing everyone's pictures.

As for Japanese women, there are lots of advantages to looking in Japan. First, there's a culture in Japan of women being wives and mothers first, not something to sneak into their spare time while pursuing their careers. I've heard lots of people say things like you have to be rich etc, to interest Japanese women, or that their families always object, so they're not worth pursuing. The truth is that there are plenty of Japanese/American mixed couples - probably more than any other Asian group other than perhaps the Fil/Am. Maybe it's because I hang around with Japanese more so that other Asian communities, but if you go to any of the big Japanese grocery stores around here in the LA area, you'll see two or three mixed couples. In the Korean stores, you see none. In Little Saigon, you could see 1000 married couples on a weekend in the big Asian Mall section, and will likely see zero mixed race couples. The same goes for Monterrey Park with the enormous Chinese community around here. So the notion that Japanese women are out of reach or unavailable, just isn't the case. Japanese women are also attractive, attentive to their appearance, and have a charm and elegance about them that I find very alluring. It's also very common in Japan for the women to control the home finances. My wife does this in our relationship - and manages to be thriftier and save more than I used to. She even invests conservatively and wisely, though we both discuss that part of the arrangement in depth. You won't have to teach your new wife the realities of first world economics - she'll come with experience. I never once felt like an ATM machine, more like I'd turned over my paycheck to a competent accountant.

The Japanese culture has a civility and politeness about it also that makes the people a joy to be around. People might think you're a jerk but would never show it. I chuckled when I read the post a while back when someone said they'd punched a cab driver. In Japan, they are so polite and honest, you simply never have to even come close to asserting yourself. The country is impeccibly clean, safe, convenient, you can drink the tap water, leave your door unlocked, not worry about having to bribe anyone. You can find your way around Japan using only English with ease. People in hotels and train stations, etc, all speak English and all of the signs where travelers or tourists might frequent are bi-lingual. There are tons of non-stop flights. Everyone has a phone. You can call a 10-10 number and get clear connections for 9 cents a minute. Your girlfriend can get a tourist visa the same day she applies, so can visit you as well as you her. You don't need a K1, she can enter on her multiple entry tourist visa and adjust her status here.  Finally, all Japanese can read and write English, though not that many speak it well enough to have a prolonged conversation.

This board tends to be heavily Filipina oriented, but I thought I'd toss some ideas out there for many of the lurkers. Japanese women make great wives, adapt to life in the US easily, and, in general know how to make their husbands feel very special. If you're looking for a very simple girl, it may not be for you, but if you're like me, a city type guy who likes nice resturaunts, parties, cultural events, etc. a Japanese wife may be right for you.

Geez, this got long winded. Thanks again for all the compliments on the Asian Sweetie site.

Another nice thing about courting Japanese women is the reciprocating travel policies with their country.  My friend is coming to visit on a "See Gaikoku-land during Golden Week" travel package which requires no visa (since it will be such a short stay).  Though she has told me the day and time of arrival, she has yet to inform me of the airline and flight number.  Not unlike Lori's predicament above.  What is it with trying to get a little useful factual information? [bangs head on wall repeatedly]
Ah well, I got 6 weeks to pry that information out of her AND try to tidy up my apartment for visitors.

Oh, sometimes gaikokujin (foreigners) do run into the rare hardcore bigots in Japan.  From this little story, it shows that racist rednecks are not exclusive to America.  http://www.bigdaikon.com/mystory-20020204.shtml  (Note to self: do not go stumbling around the streets of Tokyo drunk.)
