I sent a handwritten, POLITE, respectful letter to the NSC and got a handwritten reply two weeks later. They had done a name search but were unable to find me as I had not received even my first NOA yet, and asked me to resubmit my request after I got a receipt number. Which I have done now. My gosh why would you send them your only Birth Certificate? I only sent my Cert of Naturalization because the old I-129 form I had been givin stated to do so. It clearly states copies are appropriate for everything else.
