Dan,
How long do you think we have before it gets....different? If it's a two agency system, that may speed up the process to be honest. The approval agency doesn't have to deal with illegal immigration, enforcement, tracking, etc... The approval agency just handles straight, mainline, visa applications. I think it could be a winner.

I guess the democrats still have to put their two cents in and we'll end up with a revised bill but what kind of time frame do you think for completion, based on past bill processes? You seem in the know!

That depends on how much "pork barrel" garbage is attached to it. When are the American people going to stand up and say "ENOUGH!"? Ashcroft waits until the bill has already gone through the vote and passed and NOW he wants to change it? B.S.!

My feeling is that a bill should stand alone and not have a bunch of garbage attached to it. How many good bills have been shot down because of some partisan cr@p attached to it? How much cr@p has gotten passed just because it was a package deal, take it or leave it?

Wouldn't it be simpler and quicker to debate only the merits of one subject at a time. I know, logic and politics don't go together but I feel that it is long passed over due for Americans to stage a revolt against the political system as it now stands.

I agree that it could simplify things be separating enforcement from approval but I don't hold much hope for that. Two separate entities = twice the cost and confusion. We alread have to deal with the D.O.J. and the State Dept. to get a visa approval or an A.O.S. so this simplifying the process doesn't seem too likely.
