As a result of being spread out over different religions and cultural backgrounds there has been established a unique phenomenon of the "Russian Soul". This phenomenon has been exhibited throughout different events in history. Why does the Russian Woman represent the personification of femininity? Why does she have the potential, and tendency to reach completeness with her soul?

To understand the answers to these questions lets remember the famous Russian doll "Matryoshka". The set of them could have three to thirty of the same style painted dolls. Each doll fits within another. The construction of "Matryoshka" intends to reveal a little doll. To find out the mystery that she is carrying, you need to open the whole set. When you open each doll you will find another and establish between them outside and inside similarities. All "Matryoshka" sit inside of one another, when you look at them together you will see the only largest one. This large one symbolizes the wholeness of unity bonds with family, culture, religion, and folk traditions.

When you open all "Matryoshka", and finally, arrive at the last one, you can establish only an outside similarity. This little doll represents a multi sided link with the Mother, Family tree, as well as to culture and religion. This is the symbol of the Russian Woman's soul. "Matryoshka" represents to us the unending process of discovery of the beauty of Russian woman

... in response to Speaking of Matroyshka . . ., posted by Dan on Apr 4, 2002

I found a web site selling a few with 30.

I seen a couple 22 pieces in my visits(In Odessa). It was selling for about $150.

The 30 piece sets I see on the webb sell for $400-$700.

I know you did not ask for prices, but I threw that info in as a bonus.

Most of the more expensive and fancy dolls are made in certain cities in Russia(where the dolls were made as toys early this century). I am not sure if Ukraine has a similar 'factory'.

... in response to Do You Happen to Recall the Web Address?..., posted by Dan on Apr 5, 2002

I do not recall the web address. Do a Yahoo search for 'Russian Nesting Dolls'. You will find it there. Also you will find a few on Ebay.

If I find the link I will post it.

At this time, I feel that Natalya is a sincere lady on this forum.  While some of the post that she will put here from other Forums are just a little on the negative side, I feel she is doing it out of concern more than anything. I could be wrong. If this is the reason, she may feel she is doing a good service for all the others here and I do not want to  do anything that would cause her not to feel comforable here. However, I also feel she could talk about some other things that would greatly help some of us here. I would like to hear how she feels about being in America, even the negatives. I feel this would be an area that she could help in. she does seem to be very carful about telling to much about herself. nothing bad Natalya, just my dime:)

Terry, I don't see alot of people talking personal things in here, well except trip reports.Another thing I learned here and I don't think it's me only that there are times when personal information posted here can be used against you by insincere people or what you call TROLLS. I'll gladly answer questions you may have but only if you ask something in particular. This is why I wasn't able to answer to Bill on his post about life in Russia before and after 1991. The question was too general. There was no way for me to put my answer in couple words, book more like it Smiley

What do you like most about living in the United States after living in FSU and under communist government?  What did you come to the U.S.A. did you search for an American Husband?

... in response to I have a question....., posted by Ryan on Apr 4, 2002

You know Ryan, what I like the most is to be able to grocery store and buy any food I want, no matter what time of the year it is, to live in the warm house vs cold appartment on 9th floor, to go on vacation anywhere I want. I like freedom of choices. Don't want to dissapoint you but I really don't care about politics. Part of it was that because Communist party and government was so corrupted that your vote really didn't make a difference. So I stop voting and care about politics long time ago.
I'm sorry but I didn't understand your second question.

Natalya

When an AM brings a RW here , what do you feel is some of the things the he should do to help her in the first 30 days here. also, what do you feel we should do  before she gets here.  For example, should he maybe spend the first two weeks at home with her helping her learns some of the america ways. From you eyes , we could learn a ot from you about how we could make this as easy as possible for her.  do you feel we need to take the time to help her learn these things, or should another person help in these matters?   I have in my mind some things I feel should be done, however I feel it better to learn from someone who has allready been thur this.  Your views on this could help me as well as others here. It would be a lot like a trip report about coming here to America.

... in response to With Due Respect - Why Are You Constantl..., posted by Dan on Apr 4, 2002

Dan,
I have read the comments below and I think you may be missing two important points.  1)Some of us (like me) do not read other message boards.  An interesting post from another board is welcomed from us. (I was VERY against the back biting BS posts from other boards that were coming here from Jack, Drew and Barry) 2) The posts that Natalya has chosen to share are even more important because a RW is doing the choosing.  They are topics that hit HER nerve and therefore gives us AM more insight to the inner workings of a RW's mentality.
I see the posts balancing out the male mentality of this forum.  Most of what is posted here is from a man's point of view.  Because of this some guys get too self absorbed with the potential risks they run with the man's difficulties in this process ie scammers ect.  Natalya's posts have highlighted the RW's risks and I think that is very valuable.  Besides it gives us men something to chew on instead of visas and plane transfers.
