Hello all!! Just mailed off my k1 fiancee package today to the INS in Nebraska. I am wondering if the INS will call me or will mail me notification that they have received it??? Also what is the average time that it is approved or denied?? Thanks all!! Snowman

According to the Nebraska Service Center’s Processing Time Report for 12/30/01, the I-129 petitions are taking around 50 days to process.

Hi Snowman,

You should recieve a "Notice of Action" (1st NOA) in the mail in the next few weeks, letting you know that they recieved and are beginning to process your paperwork. I sent my K-1 Petition US Postal Service Signature Confirmation and found out in a few days that it had arrived. It took INS a few more weeks to open it and send out the 1st NOA.

Check out this page for Visa timelines.

Good Luck,
