Hello from Davao!We just returned from two days at Paradise beach resort on Samal island.We had a great time there and i can highly recommend it.Rgg and his wife and family picked us up on Samal and took us to Talikod island where i was able to do two dives w/ a canadian friend of Rgg who's working here for six years.Diving was really nice and Rgg's wife prepared a huge feast for us all.So far,the highlights of my trip has been the Eagle farm,Japanese Tunnel and restaurant,Malagos Garden resort,Hilltop restaurant overlooking the city,Paradise beach resort on Samal,Diving at Talikod island, and our picnic with Rgg's family including his brother and sister in law and other friends.So far,all this talk of danger is a bunch of hype just as i thought.
My biggest complaint is this chunck of foam they call a pillow! If you're picky about your pillow,better bring your own with you!I guess i'm spoiled with my goose down pillow.I did find pillow i like today so maybe i'll finally get a good night sleep.Don't bother staying at the Sychar hotel.It sucks!We have transferred to Regency Hotel which is very nice and comfortable at only P850/night.My only other complaint is the painfully slow internet connection at the Gaisano mall next to Rgg's cellphone store.It just took me almost an hour to check and respond to a couple of emails.So,all in all,i guess that's not much to complain about ha ha.
The taxi driver's have been no problem here and always use their meter.Also,the people here in Davao had been very friendly and i have only been called "hey Joe" 3 or 4 times!I've never been treated so kindly by anybody anywhere including in the U.S as Rgg's and his family have treated me.Salamat po Roy to you and your family!
