...Can you recommend a good, clean & relatively cheap place to stay in Davao City kinda close to Roxas? I will be travelling there on January 2 through 18. Also, anyone else going to be there during this time?

I stayed at the BS Inn. At about P500 it was clean, friendly, and a good value. The restaurant sucked though!

Joe,

Budget hotel rates range from Peso 600-900 for single room, complete with the usual amenities like TV, h/c shower, air-con, etc.  Cheaper than this  would be (Peso 400-500) the lodging inns usually patronized by travelling salesmen, they also have the same amenities as the budget hotels but I think the room is smaller.  Inns are also located in downtown areas accessible to public transport and near restaurants and malls.

If you need further info, just e-mail me.

Marbella Mansion Pensione house.  Its about 4 blocks off Roxas.  They charge p750/night if you pay cash and p1375 for credit.  Have everything u need including a Jolly Bees/Greenwich 1 block down the street.

... I made reservations there at Marbella last night. It sounds very nice and I like the proximity to Roxas. Thanks again.

... well, I will be at the airport to fly out to Manila that same night (probably on the same plane) so we will probably see each other in passing. This will be my 2nd trip to the PI, the first was to visit a different girl in Dipolog... needless to say, it didn't work out. Good luck on your trip.

Kreeger,
I've stayed at the Apo View Hotel and the Durian Hotel both in Davao but have no idea where Roxas is.  Both were nice and relatively inexpensive.  Clean airconditioned rooms with showers.

Humabdos,
Well I admit it's not that cheap(I seem to remember about $50/day) but do those ultra cheap places really exist in the bigger cities for an American in the Philippines?  With airconditioning and even halfway decent rooms?   True, I payed only $12/day for a room in the Province where Melly is from and got airconditioning but that was a ladies personal residence at her business and she just happened to be away the whole time we were there so we got the room.   I always hear of these cheap places in the larger cities but don't know how to find them myself.

Unless I am in Manila I Never pay more than $20. In most smaller cities Like Roy said Very nice room can be found for 500P to 900P. This might sound like an add for L.P.T.Book but it's rarely let me down in my seven trips. Having said that things change fast in the PI so some times places are gone or changed names  Humabdos

Durian is a very nice and clean business style hotel near the bus terminal. I can also recomend the "Maguindanao Hotel". It's less expensive than the Durian, but rooms are also nice, maybe a bit noisy if iy happen to get a room facing the street.... Where is Roxas???
