"The harshest critics point to the deaths of two mail-order brides in Washington state in 1995 and 2000 as examples of abuse. Proposed legislation would require the U.S. spouse to disclose information if he or she has a violent history or previous marriage."
Beating a dead horse. It's amazing how often these extremely FEW cases of abuse are blown out of proportion in order to push this feminist agenda.
I say, tit for tat. Change the bill so that it isn't so blatantly anti American-male. Word it so that ANY American--male OR female--who wishes to get hitched with a foreigner must submit to a background check. After all, the number of American women who marry foreigners isn't significantly less than the number of American men who do.
In FYI 1997 (according to the IMO report to Congress posted on BCIS's web page), immigration to the U.S. by FEMALE spouses numbered 104,619, while immigration to the U.S. of MALE spouses numbered 65,607.

Wouldn't a Brit love to know if Sandra from Atlanta has been divorced three times already? or that she knifed one of those ex-husbands? or that she's currently bankrupt? LOL!! I think even most feminists would be shocked to discover how often domestic disputes are instigated by FEMALES.
