to those that have married in the catholic church, what exactly goes on in pre marital classes, is it entirely religious, does the father give you advice, is it just you and your finacee or are there other couples and did they help you and your finacee discuss topics that weren't discussed before during your courtship? did it strengthen your relationship or did things come out that needed to be discussed and worked out.

Our class was us and maybe 10 other couples.  A Mexican couple married many years were the teachers. We took the Spanish version of the class.  No priest was involved.  Did it bring us closer?  I guess you could say that since it allowed us to get married in the church.  I saw no other value in the class.  There was a lesson on achieving simultaneous orgasm by displaying two charts of sexual excitation levels versus time on an overhead projector and sliding the man's chart forward so that the peak time matched the woman's.

I also got these two other important pieces of advice from the Mexican man.

"Don't beat your wife, like I did."
"Don't have extramarital affairs, like I did."

He should have simply stated the following advice on how to have a lasting marriage-  "Marry a Latin woman, like I did."
