parque san antonio,

free live entertainment(clowns, comedian, etc.,), lots of little restaurants and food stands that don't cost money.  very safe, you just take taxi to and from.  It's happining on the weekend.  You rarely see another gringo.  It's totally acceptable from a date stand point, it has the added attraction that at night you'll have beautifuly view of the city kinda romantic, lots of col couples sitting around makingout(just like in highschool!!)

Cosmocentro

i was meeting two hot doctor chics for dinner last night, they suggest cosmocentral(a mall about 10-15 min taxi ride fr avienda sexta, about 5-6k peso).  When i arrived at 9:30pm, they had a live band playing, lots of people just sitting/standing listening/dancing.  I don't know when the band started playing, but it's a great place to go with your friends that's cheap and affordable.

Palmetto (new mall near cosmocentro)

The girls picked me up and we droved to Palmetto another mall, and it had bunch of little bar/stand for people to hangout and have drinks(kinda like a row of bars on a street, but it was inside the mall) good place to checkout not lots of gringos because it's off the gringo path.  You can probably pickup on locals chicas there also, you'll need to have a wingman to be more effective.

PS.  apparently in COL it only takes 6 yrs to graduate with a MD, you still have to do a few years of residency.  The girls i was hanging out with were 23-24 yrs graduate uni as doctors and are now doing "praticica" or residency at various hospital around cali.  They meet wearing typically young sex ropas, definetly not like any female MD students i seen in the US.  Family had money, they both have cars, but were very sweet, playful and fun.  They complain about the lack of guys, their family would not permit them to date below their social class.  I guess we gringos get a pass on the social status thing.

Speaking of social class, it's funny i've been talking with some uppercrust COL guys/girls and they ALL look down at avienda sexta, to them that's where the low class crowd hangouts.  I told them americans have less class distintion and you'll see people that party at hip/trendy/exp bars also party and the cheap/grungy neighboor bars, especially in big metro's (NY/SF/LA, etc.,)  so for americans we don't see anything different between partying in avienda sexta or avienda 9(ritzy area).  I have to say, when i checked the ritzy bars i didn't see any avienda sexta type crowd, while when i was in aveidna sexta, i didn't see the avienda 9th crowd as much.

... in response to you forgot my favorite....Crepes and Waf..., posted by Chris F on Oct 22, 2005

Damm!!!!! I love that place, their chicken, cheese and mushroom crepe is the best. Love their desserts too. I thought about stealing (or buying) one of their menus and bringing it back here, maybe start a restaurant some day.

Can’t believe a mom and pop started it out of their garage in Bogotá. Notice that all the people who work there is women, from what I was told, all single mothers.
