Welcome! Hope that you will share your story and travel experiences with the rest of us. We are anxious to hear more about your travels to Colombia, dating, marriage and anything you have noted as being different between yourselves and your respective ages, cultures and so on.

Best regards to you Spanky and the rest of "Our Gang"
Alfalfa, Buckwheat, Stymie, Froggy, Porky, Uh-Huh, Butch, Dorothy, Waldo, Pineapple, Jackie Cooper, Dickie Moore, Mary Ann, Jane, Darla Jean Hood, Mr. Welling, Buckwheat's Mom and any others I don't recall. There were quite a few and cast changed over time.

Have the rest of your gang been to Colombia?

Come to think about it, your age shown in post is too young, I think, to really know much about "Our Gang." Is the "Spanky" screen name a reference to a very old TV show or to your affection for "baby's got back"?

Don't be hesitant to contribute. Some people will support you, others will smash you, most will not get involved and just sit back and read. What have you got to loose by spilling your guts in front of others that don't know you at all? Start typing! Let it fly!

Yeah, I did watch the show("Our Gang")as a kid.

Shortly after my divorce in 2002 i booked a partial "tour" through an online site in Barranquilla. I utilized their offerings only briefly. After two days of office dating, a few other Americans and myself were off on our own. I was fortunate in finding an English speaking taxi driver who became a great friend.  Pretty amazing story with my future wife and I. She was my first date. We met at the agency party held two hours after my plane landed. 11 months later and 4 more trips (6 in all) to Baq we were married.

No shit! Congratulations. I know only a few encounters that were that easy, but they are the exception and few and far between. Way to go! Some guys don't get there because they have trouble making a decision and a comittment. Give us details when you have a moment of clarity. I recommend that you write story, break it up into sections that end in a cliffhanger, just for us to wait until the next installment, and wait for a few responses, then post the next section.

Thought that 44 was possibly too young to remember "Our Gang". My mistake.

Remember Top Cat, Beanie and Cecil, Woody Woodpecker, Gumby and Pokey, oh the pain of it all I can't focus tonight and recall more! Must walk puppy and settle in for the night.

There are quite a few good people here with experiences and knowledge that may assist you in your quest for a long and prosperous relationship. Don't hesitate to spell it out and ask. The worst we can do is give a hard time to someone we don't even know personally.

Why Barranquilla? Why this agency? Why soon off on your own with others?

Suerte.

I picked an internet agency out of a hat more or less. I figured they'd all be the same-todo sobre el dinero. This agency had even tried to talk my wife out of getting married in order to keep her in circulation...i figured. There must have been 40 women at that welcome party, and about 7 gringos. My future wife had arrived late that night. The attraction i had to her was nothing less than immediate. Me and another American i met that night had gotten many phone numbers and addresses both at the party and in the office the next two days. Teníamos suerte bueno at the malls, on the streets and in our hotel El Prado. Was no need for further agency help. Ahhh...the good ol' days. (-:

What was that Dire Straits song which included the lyrics "the land of plenty"? Referring to Australia as I recall but the same applies in this situation to Colombia.

Sounds like you made a good choice by taking your first trip and meeting so many beautiful women.

Suerte.

What's your story? How did you meet her, how long did it take to find the right one, etc.?
