As a newbie, I would like to thank all those that have shared their information and experiences so that individuals like myself may learn. With that said I am fortunate or perhaps unfortunate enough to have begun correspondence with a woman in Cuba. Trust me when I say this was not intentional as my target was Peru. Being the extremely "fussy", person I am, this womans pictures truly rocked my world. After much correspondence I am trying to decide what would be the best method of meeting her. Aware of the laws pertaining to this for us in the USA, I was hoping someone out there could share some insight....Roberto

Back through the 90's, I had several offers from the illegal Mexican community to sell my sevices as a hubby. Five-grand seemed to be the standard offer. Doubtful it would have included an elaborate ceremony, but who knows?

It is generally illegal to travel to Cuba unless your travel purpose meets certain restrictions.  See below.

http://www.usacubatravel.com/restriction.htm

And the U.S. government is quite strict about enforcement - because of political influence of Florida cubanos.

You a dual-citizen?  (Canada/U.S.)

Aren't Canadians permitted to travel to Cuba?

My understanding is that if you're a naturalized U.S. citizen you're still required to denounce your prior citizenship under oath.  Canada may not accept this is a real renounciation and so in Canada's eyes he may still be a citizen of Canada.  It used to be that the State Dept. did not look kindly to these dual citizen type cases where a person was naturalized, however now they look the other way.

Proceed with care - not sure about the $50 as mentioned below with regard to the passport stamp - that may be a new thing but Cubans have special privledges and do not need to stay with you once they arrive in miami on a k1/k3 visa. In other words, once they exit the plane im miami - adios gringo especially if they have family here in the US. Further, keep in mind that the island is for the most part poor and one big brothel. Should you wish to proceed, i believe however you can hire an attorney and get her a k1/k3. you can probably get there from Canada, Mexico, or Central America

Hey Roberto,

This process of finding a wife/novia in a foreign land is difficult as it is, trust me.  I think you are just setting yourself up for hardache if not failure by writing to someone from Cuba.  Why choose a land where it's difficult to travel to and even more difficult to get the woman out.  You're profile says you've been through two divorces, have four kids and are lacking in cash.  This is the profile of someone who doesn't need more problems!   Find an easier place to travel to.  Forget about a couple of photos that rock your world and start thinking with your big head.  Photos don't really mean much, it's the whole package  that is important and you really never know until you meet in person.

In my experience more like 50% of the time they look better in person.  Something about "In the flesh" makes them look so irresistable to me!

I have been to Cuba twice.. I have a novia there. Go through cancun and on your way back into Mexico put 50.00 in your passport for them not to stamp it. Believe me there are looking for you to do that the customs guys come running when its the plane from Cuba. Biggest problem is it is almost IMPOSSIBLE for her to leave Cuba. You will have to pay someone to sneak her by boat...
