Hotels in Lima

I am leaving for Lima on the 26th. Any recommendations on Hotels? The only one that i have stayed at is the Hotel Ariosto in Mira-Flores. Although it was nice, i thought it was a little overpriced. I will be staying in Lima for a week and a half and then off to BAQ for week. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the links and the info guys. This will give me some more options to pursue. I will definately make it to the pastry shops. The Peruvians do know how to make the pastries. It is a wonder that the majority of them are so thin. Gracias de nuevo.

Enjoy your trip. There are lot of good places to stay in Mira Flores like the other guys listed. There are several places anywhere from 25-50 dollars. I had my wife negotiate the bill, Peruvians always get things cheaper.
You will have to go to Monolo's (I think that is the spelling of it) Its a little sandwich and pastry shop just around the left corner (about 75 yards down the street) of the big Catholic Church in Mira Flores's main square. The pastry called a churo is the bomb, good stuff. My wife likes to go there. Also, San Antonio Bakery is good place to go eat. Great pastries and sandwiches there too. Yummm. I must be hungry tonight.

The El Patio Hostal in Lima was great! It was recommended in one of the guide books, so I stayed there. It has a very nice atmosphere and includes a morning brunch. It is also very unique and I doubt if you could find anything similar in the States. I personally would not paticularly enjoy going to Lima and staying in a Holiday Innn and eating at McDonald's! But to each their own!

The Holiday Inn Select is WAY DIFFERENT then staying at a Holiday Inn here in the states. It is equal to a Radison Hotel chain here.

The Holiday Inn Select is a five star hotel in Miraflores. The El Patio Hostal is a three star hotel.

Next time your in Lima....check out the Holiday Inn Select in Miraflores...see for yourself

i'd stayed at Maria Lusia, it was one block from Parque Kennedy in Miraflores(very safe area), cost was 85soles(27USD) for honeymoon sweet to 50soles(16USD) for standard 1 queen bed room.  Has security.  I would stay there next time I come back.

No place is perfect, but I liked the Hotel Maria Angola.  It was the first hotel I stayed at on my first trip to Peru.

Great food (and pisco sours) in their on-site restaurant.

Centralized near many of the cafes/restaurants/sites in Miraflores.

Very suitable and clean rooms.

It was around $50 a night when I was there, and I recall that they were in the process of adding a casino (some time in 2003-2004).  I see higher quotes now on some sites, but I'm sure a deal can be found--especially this time of year.  I typically do walk-ups (no reservations) when travelling, and had no problem getting set up at this hotel by doing so.  Reservations seem to lock one into a price that can't be negotiated at the counter.

Coincidently, this hotel is on the same street as--and only a block away from--the Ariosto.

Rex,
I have been to Lima several times, and I love the Hotel Sol De Oro. It's a beautiful hotel in Miraflores, and close to Kennedy Park. The rooms are huge, have computers with Internet. They also have suites with a seperate patio that has a huge jacuzzi. You can usually negotiate the price if you have a local book the toom.

Yes...Hotel Sol De Oro is very nice....stayed there four times while courting my wife in 2004...The Holiday Inn there is also nice...have stayed there too and its also close to everything.

Try the holiday Inn Select.  Its also in Miraflores and runs about 60-70 a night.  the 70 a night rate includes breaksfast which typically runs about 10 a day if purchases seperately.

There are other places that are cheaper, and in miraflores, but it depends on whether or not you want a national reputation behind you.
