No one with experience with Cali should be surprised by this....

On the Gringo.com board many guys have been saying the same comments lately about Cali Colombia....its just no longer the place it used to be for wife material...there are so many better places to go now (Medellin, Bogota, Peru, etc..)

Pete....since you live in Cali Colombia and having guys stay at your place....... besides Heat, could you please share some RECENT success stories that you know of from guys in Cali?

I define a success story = Guys engaged...or close to it.

I define "recent" as the last six months.

Well,there is the guy who told me that story who just got engaged.I don't know the girl well but the other chicas including my girlfriend think she is a good one.
Then there is one ex roomate who moved in with his girlfriend 3 months ago.He's not calling it engaged but says if it goes good for a year he will marry her.
As far as other Pete's place occupants the last 6 months?HMM,seems its guys who have not found her yet or guys who have been around the block and who are not really looking hard for something permanent.
If I can go back 18 months,its 2 marriages,the  2 guys I mentioned above and alot of guys who just want to get back here to have fun.More whore chasers than marriages I have to admit.And a few guys who got nowhere with it.
I agree Cali has its share of user girls.I might even admit more than its share,alot more than any other place except maybe Brazil,talking latin america only.I can almost pick them out by their pictures.They tend to be the young hot ones,I guess the kind that makes us famous but also is a big source of problems.
BUT,I will also maintain we have alot more of the good ones also,just because we have alot more total.They tend to be older,not quite as hot,probably with kids.The girls the guys are passing on going for the hotties.
I still like Cali because I think it has the most choices.But I will admit it probably the place in Colombia you need to watch your ass also.Its where the action is,but that action does carry its risks.
AND,if you stay here,you get a built in bunch of guys helping you watch your ass.Most of us learned the hard way,so we will not pull any punches if we think your new sweetie is bad news.
And,at my age not chasing the young hotties has its benefits,I am shopping a much better group of women.But even there I was wrong big time last year with one who fooled me and all my friends.But 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
BUT,your point is well taken.It can be risky here.Comes with the territory.

Chris any guy can travel to Cali and become engaged if he really wants to.  I hardly think this is a measure of success.  I personally think success is being in a relationship where both parties are happy to be in the relationship and are sincere about their intentions and expectations.  Success can be either short term or long term I suppose.  If marriage is what the expectation is, then I think success needs to be looked at in terms of more than just the honeymoon period, perhaps 3 or 4 years is a better test.

As for Cali, I haven't been back in 2 1/2 years since my wedding.  However when I was there, there were plenty of good quality women available IMO.  I find it hard to believe that there still aren't women available who would make successful relationships.  I have known women in the agencies who were IMO good wife material but guys weren't interested.  Guys tend to gravitate to younger sexier women at the expense of those women who are perhaps a little less attractive but who would make a better match and ultimately a successful relationship.  So is the problem with the girls? Did they all turn in to players the last two years? Or is the problem with the guys and their ability to select women for dating that they will have successful relationships with?  I think the problem is more with the latter but this is just my opinion....
