(In case you're unfamiliar with CL.)

They have an extensive job board of all types: professional, freelance, parttime, ETC category(uhm, that's egg/sperm donor type jobs, and others, dog walker,...).

I'm familiar with SF bay area, you need to click on Los Angeles, I guess.

No back pay but 80bucks a shot for something you usually do for free.  In addition think of all the little Rays and Rayettes scampering around.

depending on a few things, such as:
where do you live? rural,urban
how is her english?
does she have a drivers license?
does she have reliable tranportation?
can she take public transportation?
do you live in or near a latin community?

you might consider looking for something in a latin community first if her english isn't good. of course if her enlgish isn't good working with latinos may not help, but what she needs is a first job, something that she can put down later on her resume when she looks for a better job. if she is dedicated then she can continue to learn english after work or weekends.

if her language skills are good, then take her to an agency, they will help her get an entry level job. colombianas that i know here on the east coast have gotten jobs in internet cafes, places where latinos make long distance phone calls, places where latinos send money to their country, restaurants, fed ex, ups, clothing stores, supermarkets, flower shops and the ever popular nanny and house keeper. housekeepers in nyc make good money and most of the employers spoke spanish so there wasn't that much that my friends had to know to communicate and do their job, they made their money and had a referrence. one also worked at kennedy airport, at a cosmetics shop, airports always look for bi/ multilingual personnel.

She should be flexible and take whatever she can get for starters.

A lot of employers are hesitant to hire someone who has never worked in the USA. If she takes a job in a fast food joint, a restaurant, a store in the mall, or anything where she deals with the public and/or handles cash, then 6 months of work experience with a good recommendation will open all kinds of doors for her.

Does she have a professional resume? That helps a lot sometimes also.

Does she have her driver’s license yet?

She started working today and everything went well.

She is working in a hotel that I am a partner in.
Its a little far from the house (20 min) but they will work with her in everything (schedule Mon - Fri)

She is learning the hotel business starting at the bottom. She says she doesnt mind that "its a little hard"
