As a foreward to this series of posts, I must ask Patrick and Hoda to promptly delete any derogatory posts that are directed at me and my posts due to differences in political views.  My fiancee's experiences here with me do not have anything to do with politics.  We all know to whom I am referring.  In the past week or 2 I have noticed a marked decline in the posts by those particular individuals.  I hope they remain in lurk mode for this series.

The first 3-4 days together were spent sightseeing South Florida (SF).  This was her first time to the US, though she has been to England.  We went to the 2 major supermarket chains here; Publix and Winn-Dixie.  She was surprised by the high prices of food here but also marvelled at the huge variety of food products available here.  SF is a very cosmopolitan area and the selections at grocery store reflect the LA, SA, and Caribbean cultures that are represented here.  Publix even has guarana and Brahma, popular Brazilian soft drink and beer, respectively.

My fiancee was also pleasantly surprised by the housing here.  Many neighborhoods in SF are composed of single family homes with yards and without security bars on the windows and doors, though there are also many with such security measures.  She found this very mnice since in Brazil, people are preferring to live in high rise apartment buildings with security fences and gates and 24-hour guards.

Her biggest reaction, by far, in the first few days, was to my home.  She has very clear  and strong ideas about how "HER" home should be run.  "MY" home didn't measure up.  After sizing up my place her first day here, she set about fixing it up on her second day.  Hoda warned us about the Latina "clean gene".  I think he was being very PC.  What I experienced was and entire "clean CHROMOSOME", not just one gene!!!

When she was unpacking her things, she put her shoes in the cabinet underneath the bathroom sink.  I told her not to use it because it was dirty.  She said that she knew, that the whole bathroom was dirty.  She meant that there were dust and stains visible.  I meant that  under the bathroom sink was where insects liked to congregate so I have an exterminator spray pesticide every 2-3 months and I vacuum dead insects from there every 2-3 weeks.  The next day she CLEANED the entire bathroom including the cabinet under the bathroom sink where a witches' brew of poisonous chemicals, dead ants, dead spiders, and Palmetto bug parts has stewed in the SF heat for years!  I have capitalied the word "clean" to emphasize the thorough job she did. She spent 3 hours cleaning a space that can't be more than 20 square feet.  I think only the ceiling didn't experience her zeal.

The next day she cleaned my kitchen.  All the counters, the sink, the stove were cleaned spotless, cleared and organized to her satisfaction.  She even cleaned the entire refrigerator!  When I wasn't looking, she organized my bedroom.  She cleared up space on my dresser, organized my pens, money, radio, and other odds and ends, and put several things into my walk-in closet.  When I went to dress the next day, I got a serious shock.  I almost said out loud "Holy Moley! What the hell happened here?!?!?!?"  I have all the same color underwear, identical same color light socks, and identical same color dark socks.  I detest pairing up socks like I did as a child.  After laundry, I throw all my socks and underwear into the same drawer without any type of sorting, matching, or organizing.  That day, I opened my sock and underwear drawer to find EVERYTHING neatly folded. sorted, paired off, and organized!  Later she declared that my clothes were too unstylish and too unvaried.  She let it be known that after marriage I would have to upgrade my wardrobe.

So!  That is what I am in for after the big day!   The lesson to you guys is that you need to be prepared for a MAJOR change in how you live your home life.  There was none of the "her space / his space"  negociations that North Americans are used to.  To her, our home reflects the family and she wants that reflection to be VERY impressive.

Thanks for taking the time to post your experiences... For me one of the qualities that I do admire in most of these ladies is that they tend to be more "about the family" as opposed to "her space / his space" point of view.   I know for me it does not matter what side of the dresser my socks are on...  I hope all goes well for you.

“I must ask Patrick and Hoda to promptly delete any derogatory posts that are directed at me and my posts due to differences in political views.”

May I suggest that if you don’t want any “derogatory” replies because of your political views, then why don’t you simply keep your political views to yourself?

DUH! You aren’t too bright, are you? :-)

That's why I say he's being played for a sucker.

Maybe his Arab buddies can hook him up with a girl.

When my Calena fiance arrived she spent the first week day and night cleaning
and re-organizing my house. Even the window screens were removed and
cleaned. I have a cathedral 16 ft tall ceiling. She fabricated an extension tool to
clean the ceiling. The first day she moved 3-7ft tall wall units from the master
bedroom to another bedroom by herself! She weighs 94lbs. All my stuff is now
organized in different places. I no longer bother looking for anything I just ask
her and she gets it for me. Once I was repairing my car and a bolt fell deep
down inside the engine compartment. Within minutes she found it, fabricated a
tool out of a coat hanger and fished it out.

The Colombians are clean freaks and also very resourseful.

When my wife first arrived, she told me that my cleaning was a nice start....dayyum (lol). The first fews days of me coming home to her, had me saying "Where did you find that? I've been looking for that!" When she returns, get ready for the dreaded, designated "Clean the house time". The wardrobe part was something I already had covered. But that still didn't stop her from getting it in "order"....

Keep it coming Bro...

my wife did the same thing!!

I came home last week and all my underwear drawers have been reorganized. I was no different then you....everything went in one drawer mixed up and I would find what I needed later...NOT ANYMORE!!

Solid color boxers now have one drawer...stripes another...brown dress socks..another drawer..black socks..another and everything perfectly and neatly folded.

Now that my wife has been here for a month..she has also reoganized and cleaned every drawer in the kitchen ,dining room and bedroom.

Before my wife arrived...I kept the house pretty clean...

My wife has cleaned it to a level beyond comprehension.

It is so organized and clean here now...I think it would even put a "Stephord Wives" house to shame......

The first day my wife stayed at my house she cleaned it from head to toe so she could sleep there.  She keeps the house spotless clean.

Mrs Gator is EXACTLY the same way.  The only roach I have seen died of starvation before he made it half way across the kitchen floor.

Well as long as you keep your pie hole shut about how much you hate America then you just might get your wish.

Otherwise you will get spanked like before.
