Anybody see the TV show last week about the  Colombian women who married  American men who were abused. From what my friend told me, 3 girls came back to Cali, all said they were abused by their American husbands, either sexually, mentally or physically.
Doesn’t make us American men look too good, and im sure their will be less girls joining an agency in Colombia with press like this.

Normally men only talk about false claims of abuse at sites like this one.  I don't think false claims are as common as some suggest, but I'm sure they do happen.  For what it's worth, I talked to an attorney who was involved in defending two men accused of abuse by immigrant women.  He said both caaes came out as they should in his opinion.  One with no physical evidence was thrown out, another with hospital records, police photos of the damage to her face, and a history of domestic disputes involving police resulted in a conviction.

The only woman I've gotten to know well over the course of years who came in as a MOB ended up with a loser who lost or quit his job after the paperwork to get her here went through.  He moved back into his parents house with her and wanted her to get a job.  When she refused to marry him, he kicked her out and wouldn't buy her a ticket back.

She ended up staying in the US and eventually married a decent man.  They've since had a baby.  The f%*king INS has deported her though after they went to a lawyer and tried to get the mess straightened out.  So now the man has to travel to Colombia to see his two year old son and wife.   Meanwhile, people in the neighborhood where I used to live close to the border are often asked by illegals if they can use their address to get their kid enrolled in a US school.  I can drive to Home Depot anytime and hire a dozen illegals.  You'd think the INS would have something better to do than deport a woman  and baby to Colombia to wait through a 6-12 month process to get back in.

Hi Patrick,

Yes, the INS sounds like the bad guy for deporting her. However, that is one case where they are seemingly NEVER flexible because of the way the law was written. A K-1 fiancée visa holder can only stay if she marries within 90 days and she MUST marry the man that petitioned her. There are no exceptions that I have ever seen when she marries someone else while on the K-1.

i have seen both sides of the abuse claims, one false from a colombian, and one real from a peruvian. The Colombian, total lier, would say anything if she thought it would benefit her. the girl from Peru, just married a complete jerk, nothing physical, but a lot of mental abuse.

then you  have to question the INS and their lack of brains.. when a leget claim is ovious, they are a pain in the ass and couldnt care much.

when its common sence, illegals working for cash outisde Home Deopt, illegals coming over the border, putting their kids in US schools, taking away funds for our kids, they dont bat an eye, you have got to wonder how this country got so screwed up.

My wife has kept in contact with several women she met in the embassy while waiting for her interview.  Two were from Cali .. one went back to Cali after being pushed around by the guy's mother (who still lived with him) and the other escaped, got shelter and help from a woman's organization, and is now being allowed to stay in the United States.
