A mistake by the USA that allows Chavez to increduously continue making these dilusional accuasations. He has also exploited the general global animosity towards George Bush (read: USA) to his perceived benefit.
Alvaro Uribe on the other hand, has wisely maneuvered towards the USA to achieve his political goals. Certainly a much more sound policy as opposed to aligning with the volatile Chavez (for the political pundits; if not sound, certainly more conservative). Uribe also has achieved the benefit of gaining substantial power by being the broker between the USA and the suspicious left currently ruling in latin america.
