Well, "subjeto," as has been spelled in the previous posts thus far, does not exist.  But, "sujeto" (without the "b") does.

"Sujeto" means "subject".  While "subjeto" (with the "b") appears to be a simple misspelling; one that probably arose through those speakers fluent in both English and Spanish.  Just another linguistic flub that sometimes masquerades as a legitimate word after it's been misused/circulated too often.

but more often used to refer to an individual "the subject".  el sujeto de la investigacion.  

Or like "subjected to torture"  sujeto a tortura.
