it is not really a panic and i did email to some of the addresses you listed - but sometimes they need a wake-up call in Bogota. He met someone from my now defunct agency but i did not think it made sense to make his first trip to Bogota or Colombia for that matter with only one contact. Frank told me earlier that he was seriously considering canceling his early Aug trip and focus on Kiev instead. If we can get an agency to respond (which they are sometimes slow to do so in Bog), it might still be worth going. Just trying to help

I don't want to get mixed up in Frank's business.  But, for my own information, have you used Nelson's agency before?  I can't remember all of your comments on the board about your own situation; but if you have first hand knowledge with that agency, I would like to know it. I am not sure which city I will go back to when I decide to return to Colombia.  However, since there has been several positive comments about Bogota, I will consider it.  Please tell me your opinion-- pros and cons, etc.  How would you compare the women from Bogota to Cali, Medellin, etc?

Most guys on forum seem to be much more connected with and familiar with Cali, Barranquilla, Cartegena, Medellin than Bogota.

Used Nelson's LAI agency. Approx. 12 or more trips to Bogota starting 1999. Treated very well. Know several men married from this agency. Absolutely no hesitation to use them again, or recommend to you.

Women in Bogota tend to be more educated, run their own businesses, or work for some business. Less free time than girls in Cali, for example. Although, this is purely subjective on my part. Met many eligible women from all walks of life including, models (avoided), news anchor, factory owner (5 or 6 factories as I recall), fashion designer, doctors, nurse, dentists, lawyers, students, actress, travel agent, etc.

Now have several friends and business connections in Bogota. They visit me in Houston or we meet at a trade show in Orlando, cross paths visiting, etc. depending on our schedules.

Once you choose a city and decide to return, seriously consider taking more time, like two weeks or more. Month is better than four days. I know, I run my own business and can't go for a month either. The point is that you increase your opportunities to meet more women, spend more time with any you may be interested in getting to know better and overall feel more confortable going out on your own to the numerous restaurants, night clubs, sights, etc. to meet women outside the agency.

CONS-
-not always fast at responding to email
-offer a B&B but you pay for the breakfast
-maybe not the hottest women in the land, some old pics not updated
-negotiate taxes in advance
-Bogota has the least flexible agencies for citas only, etc. (for experienced travelers)

PROS-
-Nelson and family are super nice people
-safe, clean accommodations in nice area
-reliable airport p/u
-cozy little bar in the agency
-reasonably efficient staff
-well-run hotel, agency

Thanks for the info and your comments.  Since I have never been to Bogota, I am always trying to find ways to compare that to Cali, or other Colombian cities.  I am also considering a trip to Medellin.  Unfortunately, I don't have the time or the money to just go everywhere I would like to. BTW, you mentioned a point about the Bogota agencies not wanting to negotiate for citas.  So, will they not negotiate at all?
I do not want to pay them $500-600 or more for some "lifetime membership".  To me, that makes no sense.  Now to them, that is great,but not for me.  I realize that they try to sell you on the old "you get what you pay for" routine.  But, after a certain dollar amount, it just becomes silly to me.  After all, the other cities will indeed negotiate, and I am certainly not convinced that Bogota has a corner on the market.  But, still, I have noticed that on the Bogota agency websites, the ladies do seem to be sharp.  As far as the photos not being current, I guess that is just part of the deal at any agency.  So, thanks for the info.  I will continue to try to learn more.

OM: Was it me that mentioned they don't negotiate? I'll have to re-read posts for that. Thought it was Papi. I don't know about the "negotiation." Price for walks ins used to be lower than paying from here. Pick up the phone and call the agency. Best way. I take more of a shotgun approach and pay for whatever elite membership is available. I don't like to have part of the pie, I want it all available to me. I care more about the end result than quibbling over a few hundred dollars. Even joined the two largest agencies, same city. It's a small percentage of the total cost for multiple trips, finding someone, and finally bringing home the bacon. Overall, this is a major committment of time and money.

Ladies on web site issue. I am not aware of LAI keeping any on website that are not available. Keep in mind that only the woman can request the photo removed from website (I assume this is the case with LAI). If some dude is "engaged" and she wants photo to remain, then it stays. To best of my knowledge, true throughout the agencies. Also keep in mind that the act of keeping a web site current, removing some photos, etc. is very time consuming. I'm sure it is a higher priority for the business to process new girls, take photos, post in the "in house catalog" then post on web site. There have been many posts about photos that remain on site when woman no longer available. However, as I recall, those posts focus on only a few agencies, none in Bogota. Correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks for your response.  By the way, it seems we are the same age, and live in neighboring States.  In fact, when I was a teenager, I lived in Texas for a while.  My parents moved us to Conroe for a while, so I went to Houston many times, back then. My Dad had a construction company in those days.  I helped him during the summer breaks.  We worked in Houston, Crocket and other areas, as well as right in Conroe.   I live in the Tulsa area now.  Best of luck in your search.

Best to reach by phone.
Many places to stay within 5-10 minute taxi ride.
Some places to stay within even short walk.
I previously sent Frank info re: places to stay.
They are also honest.
Several small restaurants, convenience stores and flower shop walking distance.
Santa Barbara Mall 10 minute walk if you want short exercise.
Take date to the mall in taxi, unless she insists on walking (unlikely).

BTW both LAI and LLM agencies near each other.

First off I MYSELF am NOT panicked. LOL!!! Far from it. As for Kiev not being appropriate not sure what that means as I've been there 5 times. I know my way around Kiev really well & aside from the logistics I have NO problem going. However I AM interested in Latin America & I AM fluent in Spanish whereas I'm not so in Russian. I not at ALL worried about my trip. I'd just rather go with a mission rather than my previous thoughts about a vacation.

Geez, if you are fluent in Spanish, you ought to just pick out a Colombian city you want to visit and go there. Believe me, you will meet women by the boatload. The agencies are for guys who can't speak Spanish and need their hands held. I don't think you need your hand held from the sounds of it.

Utopia, you know that is BS. For starters, he's never been there - where is he supposed to go and with no wingman? I have met and dated ladies outside the agencies meeting around town, malls, bar, etc., but it isn't as easy as you make it sound.

Yes, it is. If you speak fluent Spanish and circulate, you shouldn't have any problem. A wingman? Somebody to hold your hand? In his case, I don't think so. I never used a wingman or a translator. I think it's fine for someone like Okieman to use an agency but with Frank, why bother?

Utopia, Frank has never been to Colombia - he has no idea where to go. But sounds like he's going to blow off Colombia anyway and head back to Kiev
