I met WS244 and Paul C in Seattle Friday night and Bueler Saturday morning. It was fun comparing Bogota and Cali and also Brazil experiences.Ws244 is well estasblished in Bogota and Paul and Bueler
may visit  Cali later this year, they both have some other things to do right now.
I am at my sisters north of Spokane now.We spent part of the day on their boat Lake Cour delane(sp)?Today.Real pretty here,as it was in Colorado, but I will be happy to get back to Colombia also. Its been 24 days, seems like 10.Beatriz is watching the Calander,it seems like 6 months to her from the way she sounds.I talk to her just about every day.
In to Idaho Tuesday, back to California 7/31 and Cali August 5.
5000 miles so fasr.I don't think I will do it quite like this again. But I am getting my fill us US experiences in some of the best places in the country.

Matt,
I blasted through Portland last Friday trying to get to Seattle in time for my planned get together with some guys.
So,we will probably see each other in again in Cali before I ever get back in the Portland area.
But thanks for the invitation, and bringing some things to me in Cali.

Pete

This is my office line and already on my web site that gets 4,000,000 visitors per year. Trust me, it is OK.

I do want to say thanks for all the editing you do. I assume it is a somewhat thanksless job.

Once again, yours is an enviable life.

I just bought a dictionary of famous quotations, and under "Travel," there are a few that stand out:

First off, don't take this first quote the wrong way.  I only include it because of the recent threads regarding the importance of learning the language of a host country.

So, first, the dark ones:

"No man should travel until he has learned the language of the country he visits.  Otherwise he voluntarily makes himself a great baby--so helpless and ridiculous."
--Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Journal," 1833

"Those who go overseas find a change of climate, not a change of soul."
--Horace, "Epistles," Book I, 20 B.C.

"Foreigners can always tempt one to abandon any sensible habit."
--C.P. Snow, "Strangers and Brothers," television broadcast, 1985

Surprisingly, most of the quotes are as negative as those mentioned above.  I'd expected the opposite when I first turned to the section.  In any case, here are a few that take a more light-hearted approach:

"He that travels much knows much."
--Thomas Fuller, "Gnomologia," 1732

"I travel not to go anywhere but to go.  I travel for travel's sake.  The great affair is to move."
--Robert Louis Stevenson, "Travels with a Donkey," 1878

"He who would travel happily must travel light."
--Antoine De Saint-Exupery, "Wind, Sand, and Stars," 1939

Thanks for the travel log.

Peace out!
