Howdy, y'all!

Very interesting board here...lemme run this by you "old salts" and get your input.  I'm kinda sure what the feedback will be, but I'm one of those that like to see things spelled out.  =(

I'm 33, in GREAT shape, good looks, decent job, extremely intellectual (ahem).  Thing is, I got no "game," and really have no interest in acquiring any, but latinas seem to be real big on "game" (the "good" kind, anyway).

Thing is, my attitude towards a wife and family are more like the stereotypical traditional Asian sort (in the positive sense -- I'm real far from being a dictator ['cept when it comes to sex!]), but what appeals to me physically is a latina, especially the ones with some black in them!  You know, the hips, the lips, etc.  Facial features and skin tone should be more Euro, but anyway...you see my problem now?

I feel like such a loser...I live right here in NYC!  I even work in the Bronx, which is like 80% latina!!  But, like I said, I have no "game" and ain't interested in it...I'm no wall-flower, no shy virgin engineer, but I'm just not into the "dance" or "game" of it all....

Oh, plus, I HATE HISPANIC MUSIC!!!!  Just drives me nuts, sounds like ants taking over the world to my ears.  I don't mean something like classic Spanish guitar, recalling the glories of the Alhambra, etc. -- but that bachatta, merengue, salsa, tejuana, whatever the hell it is.  =)

Okay, so...you see my problem!  =d  Any geniuses out there?  Basically, I want a stereotypical latina bombshell hottie who's got the noble sensibilities of a stereotypical good Asian girl and I don't want to have to listen to any hispanic music!  Any such creature?

LOL -- and, one last thing: no kids!  Young, too -- under 30, please!

(Sorry if I seem obnoxious...just trying to be quick with my honesty!)

While I love most latin music, your comment that it "sounds like ants taking over the world" is one of the funniest things I have heard in a long time.  Thanks!

BTW, do you like any kind of music or dance? Find someone with common interests in that area.  If not, try studying an instrument as a means of gaining an appreciation for music.

Love "classical" music (a misnomer, that label), like jazz -- but the only hispanic music I like is classical Spanish guitar.  Rock and roll, etc.

Maybe I would have had a different take on merengue, bachatta, and so forth, had it not been something which felt forced upon me...as it is, I'm afraid I associate it too much with drunk ghetto thugs (I know, I know, stereotype, but that's what I see here in NYC...why, even yesterday, after a nice full moon paddle on the Hudson River, what should greet us at port but boonga-boonga-boonga from the floating restaurant next door...sheesh).  Besides, that kinda music just feels "itchy" to me...which is cool during raw and raunchy sex, sure, but I don't think it's something to wake up to or fall asleep to (the music, that is).

What I find disturbing, though, is the "intolerance" behind the attitude that latinas would insist on an appreciation of their music.  It's puzzling to me...I don't insist that my mate has to share my passions and hobbies...makes me suspicious of the mentality of someone who does...do they just want clones of themselves?  Really, now.

You say you HATE 'hispanic'music (whatever that is! Smiley)...
well as they you're SOL....
I can't see where you'll find a latina that will not want to listen to her music (and there is a huge variety) and not want you to enjoy it with...
You seem to have a lot of limits on what you'll accept from a latina - physically and otherwise,..
ALL I can say is - Good Luck!
'yer gonna need it!

[This message has been edited by Jake]

you kind of remind me of the guy who wrote to this lady in Brazil ....... He had all these things that she was going to do if they got "married ".
1. you will cook breakfast everyday except sat , sun.
2. on tuesday you will Iron all my clothes
3. we will have  sex 3 times every week ..... lol
4. I could go on an on  .. he had 36 ITEMS that she was going to do .

Do you guys forget that these are ladies and humans also , they have feelings and wants and needs in there life . I have learned this the hard way , by thinking of only myself when I am there . there life is very different and difficult in the land of babes ....... like somebody else said they work to live ... we live to work ..

I so often hear I am  looking for Mrs. Right .. how about being MR. RIGHT firt then see how things will change for you .

The funny thing is, I don't insist on anything except sex!

Seriously...I've done my own laundry and cooking and cleaning for so long now it's just second nature.  Just 'cause I'm not into that loud noise-for-music doesn't mean anything else!

Yup...I'll need all the luck I can get!

Of course, it only has to happen once.  =)

But seriously, this is the thing...what IS it with hispanics??  It's funny how in this country they're always talking about "tolerance" and "multiculturalism" when it comes to respecting them, but I don't get the feeling that it's a two-way street with them...'cause you see, I'd never just say "forget it" to a latina who can't appreciate opera or so-called classical music.

Can't speak for the women but my first wife WAS an opera singer so I'm VERY familiar with Rossini, Mozart, etc. I am also a CLASSICALLY trained musician (violin though I play guitar now) so I'm into all that "classical" music as well. I think you are stereotyping here dude.

Um, not sure where you're coming from...you make it sound like I was talking about you or something (??).

As for so-called stereotypes -- I'm just telling it the way I see it.  If that's all I see, well, maybe my horizons are limited.  But then again, people who insist on you following their tastes in music, food, whatever, seem creepy, don't they?  Isn't this just the very thing that's said about MOB-guys, that we're just insecure and looking for a woman to control, etc.?

Anyway, maybe you're hispanic yourself and so was offended, in which case I will apologize again: no offense intended, certainly.

Welcome to PL.  I haven't yet read all the posts in this thread but from what I have read, you seem to have some fantastic beliefs about Latinas and Latino culture.

All the worlds races represented in LA; European, African, Asian, and Native.  You as a Chinese won't stand out in many places.  For example, Macau is a former colony of Portugal.  They brought MANY Chinese indentured servants to Brazil during the 19th and early 20th centuries and now Asians, both of Chinese and Japanese descent are a major minority group in Sao Paulo.

(On one of my earlier trips to Brazil, I met a woman of Chinese descent on the beach.  She was absolutely gorgeous in her skimpy bikini.  I looked too hard and she approached me.  After talking for a while it turned out she was on the program.  However, I did learned that she was 4th generation Brazilian and was COMPLETELY indifferent to her Chinese roots.)

The Latinos in LA are very different from the Latinos in the US.  We could list all those differences but it is best for you to see for yourself.  For example, you might not believe that large stores play US/UK rock music (Styx, Queen, Kansas, Eagles, etc.) over the PA system as background until you are in the store hearing it.

I agree with the advice for you to get on a plane, ASAP!!!!

Hey man, thanks for your thorough feedback.

Actually, I do know a lot about the Asians in Central and South America...long story, but I do know, and from first-hand experience, too (short of actually going there).

Again, sorry for coming across so blunt, but I'm just thinking aloud and I'm sure I also have great gaps in my knowledge about these matters, which is why I'm here....

I will get on a plane next year, though...if anything, you guys have given me a lot of encouragement in that regard!  I hope to be pleasantly surprised...it's just hard to imagine, right now, given my upbrining in NYC, how the latinas there can be so magically different in attitude than those here, if the culture's the same (which culture I take to be a frivolous live-for-the-moment-to-hell-with-tomorrow-passion-is-everything kind of mentality).

Again, no offense intended to anyone.  Just impressions and possible misimpressions!

LOL

You know what?  I'm "scared" that what will happen is that I do find someone there -- seriously, I'm such a loser 'cause I've got a foolproof "love resume" that isn't -- but once we come back things cahnge...I ain't talking about scams as such, but just that, you know, she comes here and sees how all the other latinas are living (like with the cellphones, cars, etc., all these really unnecessary things for NYC living) and whatnot and starts feeling like things aren't happening like they shoudl for an American lifestyle.

Hmmm...latinas and their music...how could anyone compare Beethoven to that cha-cha-cha-boongo-boongo-boongo???  =)

You're right, this'll be hilarious...I'll update the board as warranted...I feel like Leisure Suit Larry or something....
