I'm curious to know why my TLC post was deleted.  I was gone for most the day yesterday and when I came back, like magic it was gone.  Now I'll admit my post had some sarcasm to it but 90% of it was based on my own positive experiences with TLC.  Jakes's post above mine wasn't offensive either so unless something came in below his or mine, I'm not sure why I got deleted.  Oh well I guess the higher powers have spoken.  (-:

Anyway, there's been a running commentary lately on Bruce's physical stature and dressing habits. (-:  While perhaps fascinating to some it doesn't really add much to the debate about TLC itself, which seems to revolve primarily around his advertising methods (i.e. how many women have actually gotten married from TLC as Bruce claims 5000) and the pricing of his imfamous tour.  I offered my opinions on both of these and gave a positive review of my experience with the TLC quarterly address magazine.  I think an exchange of opinion, even if it is wrapped in a bit of sarcasm, is a healthy thing for the board overall.

I also think there is a point where people aren't looking to debate but rather to fight.  The message that might have been wrapped in sarcasm is now delivered with a name, something like you idiot, you rascist, "Jane, you ignorant sluut".  I've no doubt been guilty of this myself and I can understand the desire to delete a thread like this once it starts heading down the page.  Patrick and Hoda's job's are difficult one's for sure and I appreciate the time they put in cleaning up our messes.  I know that the line between deleting a thread and not deleting one is often times thin.  I'd personally like to see less deleting but that's just my opinion, others may vary.

No problem HODA, I understand it's a tough job.  Thanks for the offer on the repost.  It was one of my long winded ones though so I'll think I'll just let things lie. lol

I also noticed that Brazilophile post entitled a "Negative thread" has been deleted however Heat's response to it "Geoffery Brazil-o-pile" has not yet been deleted.  Both posts were in essence put downs on the other guy and carryovers from a past discussion on the war in Iraq, muslims etc.  While I'm much more sympathetic to Heat's political position in this instance, I think Heat's post should be removed if Brazilophile's was also.  Maybe each deserves to get a day on the board and then the ax.  I'd personally leave them both up if there were no objections.     It may be just an issue of timing, Brazilophile's coming first,  thus his deleted first, Heat's coming later thus deleted later.    I know it's a tough job cleaning up all the squirmishes, glad I'm not doing it!

Now it makes sense to me. Was attempting to locate that thread from Friday and could not find today. Beginning to think I read it some other place.

Not an isolated incident.

I was responding to a recent post in another active thread, when suddenly the entire thread disappeared.

It appears the whiners are having their way.   Everything has to be PG rated, "on topic," and contain not a hint of negativity.

Maybe PL needs a Oprah-like page, where everyone's personal feelings take precedence over even the topics themselves.

The general whining goes something like this:
"I've been gone for a few days/weeks/months"--or, "I'm a newbie who has been lurking for a while"--"and the forum has gone down the tubes.  Nobody talks about MY favorite subjects!"

Blah, blah; wah, wah; sniff, sniff.  Look in the archives, Forum Saviors; you're sure to find numerous examples of past whiners repeating the same refrain.

I can almost picture the ex-AW-wives carving this trait into their souls...

[On a side note:  This isn't an example of trolls ruining a forum, for even the WLC is experiencing a recent bout of "everyone wants to be moderator."  It's more like an epidemic of the thin-skinned.]
