I am going to Barranquilla on Wednesday. I got a call today from
Avianca confirming my ticket which was nioce of them but they
also told me that if I had two bags I would get one when I arrive
and the other a day of two later.  Every trip I have ever made to
Colombia I have never been told this... She told me they would pay
me to come back to pick the bag up later for the taxi which I do
not believe.. I guess I will have to wait and see what happens when
I get there....

That's just wacked!  I've fly AA to Peru/COL and NEVER had them tell me something like that.  Sure, if they "lost" your bag or something that's one thing, but to say ahead of time that the 2nd bag will get delay.  Can you imagine the customer response w/ AA(or any US airline) if they did that.

Fuzzy, Avianca just called me too – but the lady did not speak English.  She was calling to go over the flight info, etc.  At first, my understanding was that the bags are going to arrive 40 hours after my arrival.  Then after I asked for clarification, it is my understanding that the first bag will arrive normal.  If I was going to bring a second bag – I'd be looking at the delay same as yu

yu know, when yu fly south international - the folks bring everything but the kitchen sink. this may in part the reason for the luggage delays

From Papi:

all I am telling you is that if (stupid airlines) wants to continue to upset your passengers from the USA, continue this policy and poor service at the counter. Your competitors will be the only ones to benefit in the end. Regards.

Dear Mr.:

We have to inform you that (stupid airlines) Airlines subscribed a contract with their data base suppliers to generate sales using credit cards like VISA, MASTER CARD, AMERICAN EXPRESS, DINERS CLUB & DISCOVER, indicating in one of their clauses that (stupid airlines) is compelled to keep a supporting file of all transactions executed by the credit card holders  in all our agencies (i.e.  Processed voucher duly signed) as a statement of existence of the credit card and the authorization of the customer to execute above mentioned transactions.  (It means that (stupid airlines) is duly authorized by the customer to charge his credit card the stipulated amounts/agreed upon between the customer and CM).

Based on above mentioned, (stupid airlines) request their passengers to sign up the voucher of all transactions made with credit cards, which is announced in our website under the title “Terms and Conditions”, the obligation of a signature that back ups the transaction.   However, our Call Center Agents and our Web Page Information will indicate during the transaction that the voucher should be signed at the time of reaching airport, or if it’s signed in one of our counters, itself should be backed up so that , at the time of boarding the aircraft won’t be necessary to request a signature.

As you can see, (stupid airlines) is complying only with the terms stated in the contract in order to avoid future complications since compliance of this contract depends on the issue that we can continue giving the service of selling tickets with credit cards.

Best regards,

What a Mickey Mouse operation. Maybe the flight is full PLUS they are shipping more air cargo than normal on that day, but it sounds like a good way to steer customers elsewhere. There's a reason some businesses go bankrupt and some countries are forever "developing"...

What's the deal with an airline doing this sort of thing?   Lima is much further south, but I've never had my baggage delayed/lost/held hostage.

No f'ing way I'd tolerate service like that.

Lives in Barranquilla still..... Immigrations playing little games. I finally had to

She should be up here finally in Sept. I have been married for a year....

Immigrations has made it so hard for people. I think the major problem is
when something happens like they misplace your petition there is no one to talk
to . They tell you to write a letter to the service center, which they never answer
back.  I read where some people have waited around for years before they
realized they had a problem. You would not believe if you filed a K3 which is the
same as the I129f except you are married. You have to sent to missouri well
they are proccessing July 2005 right now. I had to wait 9 months to get mine
approved.
