but that's not to say it isn't good advice. It makes sense to have a Plan B. My wife told me later that she had planned to dump me in the airport if things hadn't gone well. Luckily they went very well and here we are, happily married for almost two years. The first time I saw her in person, she took my breath away and I knew that I never wanted to leave her.

At least if you got dumped at the airport you had the rest of the trip to do something. I wish I would have gotten dumped at the airport by my ex wife. Would have saved me $30K & 2 years time.

Crazily enough I had met two Colombianos on the plane and I told them my story. They lived in Miami and were going back to party for a week or two. They gave me their number and told me to call them if things didn't work out - they'd make sure that my trip wasn't wasted. Not much of a PLan B!

Frank O

I just sent you two emails with lots of info about Bogota. Let me know if you have any questions. I think there are at least several others hanging around the forum with info to contribute. When is your trip? Bring home the bacon.....

Correct, only a passport is needed.

lots of great places to eat (not much in terms of touristy stuff however).

Places to eat (spelling is off):

Carbon de Pollo

Casa de Viajae

Andres Carne de Res (located in Chia - about 10 miles from Bogota, very safe to travel there)

WTC(Its located on teh top floor and revolves-more contential food)

Restaurant Trumonti (located in the mountains overlooking Bogota)

There more, but I think these are the popular places that many men have visited and can confirm.

Anything else you want to know please feel free to contact me and ask.  I've been there about 8 times

I heard quite about this PARTICULAR restaurant. Is the FOOD worth it? I know many times they hype a place up the food itself is so so. I REALLY LOVE TO EAT!!! I don't have any vices but eating GREAT food comes pretty close for me so restaurants are ALWAYS THE FIRST things I look for in a city. What would you consider the best 3 restaurants food wise?

Andres has good food, but its also know for the atomsphere which is festive to say to least.  You have do Andres at least once.  Your date will love it as every colombian loves the place.

For me, the top four are(food, atmoshere, price)

1. Restuarant Trumonti(very romantic at night, little formal)
2.  Carbon de Polo (great baby beef)
3.  Andres Carnde de Res (great mixta platos-chicken, steak, pork)
4.  Casa de Viajae is more typical Colombian food and adored by Colombians.

Thanks that's what I wanted to know. I'd like to try a great botana type of plate. I guess gluttony is my vice. I reckon I try to reconcile that with the fact that I'm thin so that's my excuse for eating like a pig. I guess I have high metabolism or a VERY well fed 20+ foot tapeworm! LOL!
