...who knows the answer to this. How difficult is it for a Colombian lady to get a travel visa to Mexico? I would like to spend a week in Cancun with my novia, if possible. Thanks in advance.

Mexico is very tough which seems ironic. My stepson has a K-4 visa (child of a K-3) and he wanted to travel into the interior of Mexico with some family friends. When we asked at the Mexican consulate what was necessary to get him a visa, they had a long list of paperwork and it would take several weeks. OTOH, once she gets her green card, it's no problema. Like my wife, she can travel to Canada and Mexico without a visa now that she has her green card.

I don't know why it is so difficult for a Colombian to get a visa to Mexico. Maybe the Mexicans are concerned about people trying to get closer to the American border. I know that Mexicans think they are "better" than Colombians for some stupid reason.

It may seem crazy but the Mexicans are very concerned about people coming up from Central and South America. They do bring with them a lot of gang related violence and crime.

with My Ukrainian wife. Mexico was NOT easy to get a visa to. If your looking for a romantic spot & if you were looking into the all inclusive angel then try the Carribean say Jamaica, or St. Lucia or something like that. Very romantic & most of those simply require a return ticket & a passport. Sadly we didn't make it that far but I hope you fare better. As for Mexico like I said it will be a bit difficult.

Thanks for your comments. Cancun is the only Carribean resort I have been to. I heard bad things about Jamaica- lots of beggers on the beaches like Cartegena. Any thoughts about the Bahamas or Aruba? Is it difficult for Colombians to get passports to these areas?

Zack, my guess is that Mexico is going to be tough.  Maybe if you went with her to the consulate – I don’t know.  Have you thought about San Andres or Cartagena?  Another idea – take her to Panama.  The Decameron has a resort there on the beach and will pick you up at the airport www.decameron.com  I have never stayed there but hear it is nice.  Whatever you do, it may be cheaper to buy the tickets in Colombia

Not the best all inclusive I have stayed at (no bottle water, got a bit sick) but had a great time. Very very cheap. Bus ride to resort was not free but most stuff in Panama (like everywhere else). Is pretty cheap.

Papi,

I thought about visiting San Andres but after reading the comments here I decided not to. People didn't have many nice things to say about it. Actually what I have in mind is meeting my novia at one of the Caribean resorts and bringing my family along- say my mother and brother, who would like to meet her but would rather not travel to Colombia nor any other South American country because of the so-called "danger level". They will if need be but a Caribean vacation would be a lot easier from their standpoint. Maybe Jamaica would be easier from my novia's standpoint than Cancun.
