The forum was discussing business ideas for Colombia before I left
for my Costa Rica vacation.  Missed if that thread was fleshed out with ideas?
I read how the person who operates the LaZona DVD store was pretty leading edge on his business idea.
Also I read many months ago about someone who is importing the low-rise jeans to the states for internet retail.
As I have not been to Chipichape in Cali since 2003 I do not know
what the store scene is there.
I did not observe a store in the mall that had good souveniers
as in say Costa Rica. albeit there is not that many tourists running thru there.
Also the mall had a pretty weak quality t-shirt shop that I really wondered what it's value to retail was.
I'm not the duty expert on small business in colombia but I think
if you focus on what they do/market badly and do it better then
that might take care of the downside.
I think with the internet a person could import colombian-made items
(i.e. low -rise jeans/etc.) and market them in the US. that is not saturated in my opinion.
Also another idea is maybe becoming a Manufacturers Rep for multiple US products and market them down there in South America.

My question to other forum members is what areas/products that they have observed in colombia that need significant improvement that
would present a meaningful business opportunity (besides a new/improved high speed low drag marriage agency)?

The business opportunity can be big picture as I do not need to know what kind of hotdogs your going to use at your hotdog stand- (I not trying to poach ideas I'm just curious as to what others think can be done better down there)?
