that wasn't my experience...i found it much easier in other areas. and gringo friends of mine that lived there told me the same thing. many piasas have money, happy and not all that gringo motivated. i did walk down the sidewalk one day and a women stopped me and give me her phone but that was not the norm. easier than Miami but much more difficult than Cali, etc

Your comments about the paisas having money and the gringoes saying the same thing gives me a clue about this. El Poblado. I think if a guy sticks to Poblado, the wealthiest part of Medellin, your comments are probably true. Gringoes tend to stick to that part of town which is why I never meet anyone in Medellin who speaks English. Most of them are in Poblado which is a part of the city I never go to. In the other parts of the city, Laureles, Envigado, Belen - the chicas are not wealthy and they are extremely interested in gringos. Hell, I have a bunch of phone numbers of women who knew that I wasn't available but hoped I knew someone who was single and interested. Needless to say, hardly any American guys are. If a guy can get himself out of El Poblado I think he will have much better luck.
