Well, it's another holiday here in Cali. I guess, it's a National Mother's Day Holiday. Most people couldn't tell you what the Holiday is. There are 18 of them in Colombia. I think that today is the Colombian Labor Day. Last week we had a party at a friend's place. Lots of women looking for the special Gringo. Not too bad of a turn out. After that party we went to Blues Brothers and had a pretty good time. A group of us went to a place called Mi Cacharitto. The interesting thing about this place is that it's inside the City limits and it didn't close until 6 AM. Normally, clubs inside the city limits must close at 3AM (0n weekends) due to licensing. You can get a Private Club license and I guess you can stay open 24 hours if you want to. I had never been in this club before but I have eaten at the restaurant below on several occasions. My little group got there about 3 AM and I was quite surprised at how big the place was. They even had a stage and a pretty decent band playing. They played your typical Salsa and Merengue tunes but I heard a Selena song now and again. In between when the band took a break a DJ took over. I kind of had a bit of a chuckle when I watched these young guys (20's) around another guy who was playing a cow bell. "Wave your hands in the air like you just don't care." I don't know, you just can't look cool playing a cow bell and having your Home Boys around you like you are throwing down some rap like you're in "8-Mile." But Hell, they were having a good time. One problem there was the drink selection. Corona's (6,000 pesos) and aguardiente and that was pretty much it. Not even the standard beers like Club and Costena. Single women. Yes, there be single women in that there place. I was with someone so I didn't look that hard, but I saw a bunch of women dancing by themselves. I got asked to dance a couple of times when my date went to the bathroom. So, you might be able to pick up there the old fashion way. All in all, a very nice place. I had fun and it's always interesting walking down 6th Av. at 6AM. Swear to God, it reminds of "Dawn of the Dead." People just walking around in a daze, aimlessly. Like Zombies. Probably, how I looked too. LOL! It's really kind of dingy looking and dirty because the crews haven't come in and cleaned up yet and dim because the Sun is just barely coming up. Looks like a movie about an epidemic that has swept the Earth or something. I know, great imagery, huh? LOL! This last Sunday I went to the World Food Expo show in Menga at the Simon Parilla's. Pretty interesting, I didn't know there were so many different types of people represented in Cali. Swiss, Lebanese, Norwegian, Japanese, British, German, etc. The Japanese had Sake and Sushi. One girl even wore a traditional Kimono. Most of the food was dessert type food. The Norwegians kicked that ass with some great chocolate cake. I heard the Cheesecake was very good too. Lots of people there. You guys should have seen the 3 Lebanese girls there. Geez, there were each about 6 ft. tall and HOT! I was dissapointed though, I thought the Germans and Brits would have had some Dark Beer. No dice. Ah well, win some, lose some. I a little food info. Fear not the native tamale. We're talking about the ones that you see in the refrigerated section of Carulla. They're the little bundles you see wrapped in green leaves. I finally broke down and bought one and it was pretty damned good. BUT, it is hit or miss what you get and these people haven't figured out that bones should not be in a tamale. The first one I got had an entire chicken leg in it. Bone and all. Then there was some pork ribs in it and again complete with bones. They have three different labels but I haven't figured out whether or not these have anything to do with what's inside. There's Sabaroso, Especial, and con Res. Typically, the tamale is made with your basic masa with green peas in it and then each tamale varies as the ingredients. Con Res, has chicken and pork (But not ribs) and beef. Especial has the same thing but with a bpeiece of carrot and a hard boiled egg. I know how this might sound to you, but nuke the thing for 3 minutes and it is a meal unto itself. It's good for something different for lunch. They cost around 3,700 pesos. I've eaten about 8 of them over the last few weeks and I haven't gotten sick or anything, so I can recommend them. Ok, once again, just kind of bored and felt like writing. Just day to day life in Cali. Gotta get back to my job and review and work on some of my model's photos then knock off and go have some beer on the Sexta. Life sucks, don't it. LOL! AH! Before I forget. If any of you guys are in town for the June TLC event, Blues Brothers is offering a special for any of you guys who are in town. 75,000 pesos and your cocktails and beer are half off and your Rum, Vodka, Tequila, and Aguardiente shots are free for you and your date or dates. That'll be on Friday and Staurday June 24th and 25th. You'll need to purchase a ticket at the door and we are working on a location you can purchase a ticket prior to actually going to the bar. Just something to keep in mind. Later Gators. K
