Visa help please!

Hi fellow Latina lovers,  I really need some help here (Utopia Cowboy are you there?). I saw on the Bogota Embassy website that my fiancee has her interview scheduled for May 24.  However, she never received her packet 4 letter.  I have heard this letter is important for 2 reasons, they ask for it the day of the interview and the medical exam people need a number from it.  Over the last 3 weeks we both have tried calling the Embassy during their one hour "window" on Tuesdays.  Yesterday my fiancee spoke with a woman twice who simply switched her to a recording.  I never got through.  Can anyone tell me how to communicate succesfully with the Bogota Embassy?  And is the Packet 4 letter a "must have" document for the interview?  Thank you very much!! You can e-mail the embassy ... IVBogota@state.gov  They will respond but you might have to send your e-mail more than once. Put a number in the subject line (1), (2)etc. and then you will know which e-mail got their attention. They will respond in good English also. This does work if you are persistent ... good luck

I emailed them twice a week for 6 weeks with no response. Finally, about a week after my wife's sister went to the embassy and picked up the packet in person, I received 12 identical replies to my emails.

Yes, the letter is necessary. It is almost impossible to communicate with the people who work in that fortress. She needs to give someone a notarized letter authorizing them to pick up her packet for her. Include the case number in the letter and have the person go around noon time to the embassy. They will be able to get the packet in person and give it to your fiancee. It is not at all unusual for the packets to disappear and I am sure that every week many people come to the embassy in the same circumstances. I know I have advised at least 10 people to do this and all were successful in getting the packet in person.

Muchas Gracias por contestar!  I spoke with my fiancee and she is going to talk to someone in Bogota about picking it up for her at the Embassy.  It is hard to believe how difficult the Embassy is to deal with.  Again, many thanks!
