Aribe fired four generals yesterday.
the problem being that they would not agree to one joint
commander on the ground for this operation.
the army should of been the lead command element with the
air force providing close air support and heliocopters.
it should of taken one day to send in armor/air/artillery
etc.
the colombian military has a problem of not coordinating
air, ground and naval forces.

I think they knew about these guys for days before they went in.They need to develop a strike force than can respond immediately whenever these guys show  themselves. No just go in and run them off but go in and surround them. How ever many old thinking military butts Uribe  needs to kick to get that in place he needs to do it.
Reminds me of Blackhawk down.I don't know if it made it in the movie but the US rescue forces waited about 8 hours for the Italians to mobilize to go in with them. What totall nonsense.US troops went to Somalia being the feared victors from desert storm and under Clintons leasdership in a few weeks some  neigborhood thugs are taking them on.
Remember shock and awe that was supposed to happen when we went in to Iraq? For some reason they backed off on that. Its
makes the correct impression to just go in and kick butt hard and fast.No more Pastrana like bullshit.Uribe needs to get the Army organized to do just that.It gives these little piss ants encouragement when you just screw around with them. And makes the government look inept,EXACTLY the impression you do not want to make. When they KNOW FOR SURE every time they stick their head up it will be shot off they will be ready to deal.

Retaking the real estate is not imperative.
Farc forces need to be encircled and destroyed.

More positive moves by Uribe in shaking up the top brass.

You almost get the feeling he wants to be like Bolivar and actually lead the troops into battle himself.

No doubt, he's probably the greatest Colombian since Bolivar.

Uribe is the best thing to happen to Colombia since Bolivar.I said that here a few times.
They were WAY overdue for someone who will do something.40 years of 1 tenth of one per cent of the population really screwing up the country is enough.
Colombians had had enough and the right guy comes along to lead them.

The question is do Colombians know how to operate F-130 gunships or was that americans? Either way when those guns go off some ex farmers probably decided they should be farmers again. And these clowns are still shooting propane cylinders?Thats all they can buy with all that drug money?Maybe they got the money but nobody can get them the supplies. They could be dangerous with some surface  to air missles but they would probably just shoot themselves in the ass with it.
Hopefully the Colombians can operate the equipment, because people they got.The supplies we can give them.
