Remember that (expletive deleted) Senator from Washington State? Looks like she's got company. At least these aren't singling out overseas dating sites, they want to regulate EVERYBODY, even Yahoo, Match.com etc.

OTOH, I wonder how big a campaign contribution True.com made to 'some of the best legislators that money can buy?'

... in response to Proposed on line dating agency regulatio..., posted by Michael B on Apr 7, 2005

Michael B,

I am no expert, but it seems to me that the US govt cannot control websites or agencies that are located outside of the US-- that is unless you are talking about kiddie porn, or some crap like that.  But, I am sure that these politicians are trying to do these press releases and interviews to play up to their constituents and cronies!  I would be very surprised if they could actually do anything about the on line dating agencies.  I certainly wish they could do somethings to clean up certain things on the internet.  I also realize that it is a daunting task.  Look at how many internet scams, viruses, worms, etc are always cropping up.  The feds are almost always running behind.  Those are far more important issues than worrying about online dating sites.  Having said that, I am never surprised at how the govt can get their priorities screwed up!  On a different note, I am glued to the tube when the TV show 24 is on!  Keifer Sutherland and company can really kick some butt.  One reason why I am mentioning that show is because they are so into the high tech computer stuff, and how they track the terrorists, etc.  I barely understand what they are trying to do (computer wise), but it sure sounds and looks cool!  If only the govt was really that efficient.  By the way, I just saw the new Secretary of Homeland Security interviewed on TV.  Guess what?  He really loves that show too. I have often wondered if any of the really high Federal govt officials would watch that show.  Now I know.  You never can tell-- they might actually learn something! ha

P.S.  Okay, here is a possible scenario.  Keifer Sutherland aka Jack Bauer, takes on the all powerful on line dating terrorists.  In this case, the terrorists are using very hot latinas to turn the other govt agents brains into jello!  Maybe Heat can tell us if his brain is ready to turn into jello? ha  Too many hot latinas! ha
