I just returned from a trip from Barranquilla, Riohacha and an overnite in Bogota. There is nothing much that has changed from Barranquilla since my last trip there a year ago. However, this time I stayed at Hotel Exito a half block away from Calle 72. I was on a budget and negotiated a daily rate of $52.000 pesos. It was an average size room (Colombian standard) that had air and hot water. Surprisingly, I was not charged extra for my overnight guest.
I arrived in Riohacha on Saturday. Dios mio – only one flight in and out daily. The airport is so small they had to unload the luggage by hand and put them on a large trailer where two men and a sexy Avianca customer service rep (female) help push the trailer up to the belt some 100 yards away. What a site to watch!
My girl met me at the airport and off we went to one of the best looking hotels I stayed at in Colombia (Hotel Mayajaydur) I’m sure the spelling is not right but I can get the correct info upon request. The hotel is 200 yards away from the beach and Calle 1. This is one of the most popular calle’s in Riohacha.
About the women: (I know y’all aren’t waiting on this) – if you don’t like morena’s then Riohacha is NOT the place for you. I’m not speaking of dark, but light to medium brown beautiful women. Some of the most prettiest women I’ve seen were in Riohacha. They were mixed with the indigenous people of that region who are dark skin Indians. I’m talking….beautiful brown skin with dark silky long hair and a latina body. Many of the younger Indian women are rebelling against their tight customs and mixing with the population of Riohacha.
About the size: Riohacha is probably half the size of Cartagena. Last heard Cartagena is slightly less than a million. It has a three caste tier systems as far as the neighborhood. The hotel is located in the so-called rich section and just a few blocks toward calle 15 is the middle section and beyond calle 15 is the poorest. My girlfriend’s Mother has a restaurant in the bus terminal on calle 15.
The rest of my stay in Riohacha is a bit more personal. But I did find a strip tease (on my own) and I only stayed about 6 beers worth because I was about to get into a fight with this drunken Marikita who decided to throw some chairs around after being brushed off by one of the girls. (Also went on a one-day trip to Dibbulla beach).
I arrived in Bogota on Wednesday afternoon and my female friend from Cali was there waiting on me. She arrived a few hours earlier. She was a bit more familiar with Bogota than I so with the help of one of those hustling taxi drivers outside of Dorado Airport he took us to Bogota Suites (a small family runned hotel) near the US Embassy. A rate of $120.000 peso daily was a bit high but since it was only for one nite I took it. We later went to Zona Rosa and pay some high ass prices for food beer. Damn did I miss the coast. But I did have a bowl of the soup famous in Bogota (Ajaou something) and I must say it was pretty good.
In the next few days I will put together a (selected) photo album on the web and share with you more of my experiences.
