There is a web site www.barriogranada.com that shows the neighborhood adjacent to where I live in Cali, with restaurants, art galeries ect.
If you look at the map I am at the dead end of Avenida  11 to the right of the map.My favorite restaurant,The Antorcha,2 short but steep blocks from my apartment.I ate there last night.A different place tonight.
The Granada area is east of Avenida 9AN.To the west is Juanambu where I live.
The Granada area is really becoming an in place with lots of upscale restaurants and artsy stuff. The top of the map is Avenida 6AN,one block west of Avenida Sexta.

Hi Pete. The Granada area is nice. I have been looking for an apartment in that vicinity. Do you have any recommendations?  I would like the rent and utilities to stay under 2.5 million pesos. Thanks David

Pete,

Thanks for your info.  So, I guess you would recommend this area for me to take my calena when I come to Cali?  If I understand you correctly, this Barriogranada is close to Avenida Sexta?  How would you compare the two areas?  Since I have been to Cali only once, so far; I am trying to get a better feel for the city, and things to see and do.  Thanks again for the tips.

Avenida Sexta is kind of where the action is,the intertainment area.Bars, discos, video bars but more ordinary restaurants or fast food. The better restaurants are developing about 4 blocks to the west along Avenida 9 Norte, the Grenada area.
There are lots of good restaurantsin Cali but probably the greatest concentration here.
I live right adjacent to the west in Juanambu.I like it here. Its a strata 6 ,the highest, built on the hillside. Its quiet up here but only afewblocks from the action. You can walk there.walking back more difficult because its a steep uphill climb. Its alot cooler up here than down in the valley, even though its maybe only 300 ft or so vertically up.We get a breeze off the mountain that really sweeps through here.
There are other good areas in North Cali, kind of southwest of here.El Pinon,Santa Teresita,Los Cristales. But they are farther out,not walking distance but a short cab ride.Alot of the buidings are built along some major roads and it tends to be noisy.
I like the south around Cuidad Jardine also.Itslessdensley developed.Cuidad Jardine has huge houses on big lots, like Cali Vip has and  Latin Internet had, they are moving north. All Colombian girls will move back north also but Recardo has 6 months or so left on his lease. There is less to do down there for intertainment.Everybody told me to find a place in the North and it was good advice.I like it here and its about $1.25 cab ride to most of the places I go if I take a taxi.$1.25-$1.50  to Chipi Chapi.

Pete,

Thanks for the additional info. As far as the agencies, I don't know why they are migrating back further north.  Maybe you understand that.  But, I am a member of Latin-Internet, so I was the one that broke the news on this board about them moving.  I am not sure if they have completely moved or not.  But, I will find out soon; assuming my plans stay the same.  I am just "chomping at the bits", because I am ready to finally meet my little calena in person.  I sure hope she and I can get something going.  The information about Barriogranada will help me to have some better ideas about places to eat at, etc.
Take care.

Hey Okieman and others...  Some of the regulars might know of this location.   It has been several years since I have been to Cali so I do not know if it is still a safe and secure location to visit.   If it is you might want to bring your special lady to a place called "Hacienda El Paraiso".   It is about 40Km north of Cali from what I can remember.   It is a country mansion built in colonial style back in 1815.   It owes its fame for having been the setting for a tragic love story depicted by the author Jorge Isaacs novel "Maria".   This house has been restored and it is sort of like a national park.  The house is surrounded by gardens and it is a nice location for that romantic type of afternoon walk etc...   I think because of the known reference to the novel it makes it extra special to the ladies...

No problem visisting El Pariaso.Lots of people go there. We went parasailing off a mountain that overlooks it.Fun but don't go with a big group,it takes about an hour and a half to take 2  people then load up and drive back up the hill for 2 more. They had 2 parasails going. The Colombian national champion took me,they strap you in in front of the guy that knows what he is doing. It was very windy. We were swooping up with updrafts.I asked if it ever got so windy they didn't do it?He said yes.I said how does today compare? He said it was getting there. When the wind lifts you off you are about 3000 ft up over the valley.
