...I'm on Mactan Island with my Asawa-to-be!!!!

Wow!!!!  More beautiful in person than even her pretty photographs.

She's sitting here with me using the Internet in the Game Room at Plantation Bay.  Tonight, her family and friends are joining us here for dinner.  My brother and his wife are also here.  Life is so good I can't believe it.

We got the legal capacity at the consulate by being such a sweet couple, I think.  They didn't ask us for any documentation - which was good because I didn't bring any.  He asked Rowena some hard questions but she answered (almost) all of them just fine.

With all the bad stories you read do not be discouraged.  This is the best thing I've ever done in my life.

I'll ask Rowena to type something . . . . .

Rowena:

Hi! there ops....I found my cute beloved Bana now Im so happy to be here in plantaion Bay with his brother and sister in law they are nice and good.Pray for us and our wedding will be on Saturday. Thanks and good luck...

Thanks everyone -

I've had such a blast meeting Rowena's friends and family.  We've had dinner and gone dancing on several occasions.  Saturday we had a beautiful wedding at Holiday Plaza Hotel.  We had a cake the size of a small automobile, had a great band, and had the privilege of releasing doves.  The bouquet and garter activities were also fun.  A Filipino wedding is really special - I loved it.

My brother and his wife left last night.  Me and my asawa pretty much for a while.  Wahoooooo!!!!!

We're deciding where to go next.  We're in CyberMinds doing a little research before we check out of the Holiday Plaza.  The famous Internet Cafe is pretty much what I expected.

Hmmmmmm....... Boracay, Bacolod, Palawan, Bantayan....maybe even Makati or Hong Kong.  We have to be back at Mactan for a two-day stay at Shangrila's but we're wide open til then.
I leave Feb 3rd to go home.  It won't be easy.  It'll be tough being apart after being together every second for three weeks.  I really hope that new LIFE act makes a difference in processing times!!!

More later....

Jeff

Yeah, Filipino weddings are a blast. One of the doves crapped on my barong :-)

If you don't know where to go, why not just go down to the pier with your bags and take the next ferry that has the honeymoon cabin available? Just go and see where you end up, as long as it's not Jolo Is.

Good luck to the both of you,

Ray

Jeffrey & Rowena,

Congratulations and best of luck!

Ray-

Is that considered good or bad luck when a dove (glorified pigeon) craps on your barong? Shocked))

Dave,

I don't know about the bad luck part, but everyone at the reception thought it was hilarious. With my in-laws, it doesn’t take much to get them started. Great people!

Holy Pigeon Crap Bat Man!! You just reminded me. I forgot to get that barong cleaned. You never know when you might need one. My neighbor across the street was trying to explain to me how to hand wash a barong, but it sounds like too much trouble. I found a Filipino laundry/dry cleaner here in town that will do it, but I keep forgetting to take it in. That bird crap should be well set by now…:-)

Hi Ray,

ROFLMAO(CUML) You have reminded me of something.

Several years ago I took my children to the playground next to our community pool. My neighbor Doy and his wife brought their sons also. Outside the fence was a group of Muscovy ducks. They are the ugliest mutated ducks that you ever saw. They must number in the zillions. Muscovies are not even listed among the 73 bird species spotted in Florida during the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society sponsored Great Backyard Bird Count, for the year 2000. Probably because everyone is busy chasing them out of their backyards and into the street. They crap on your porch, eat your garbage and try to fornicate with your pets or children. Nasty birds! Probably why the term "fugly" (fu**ing ugly) was created. Shocked)

My friend and I bad mouthed the ducks as our children played on the swings and slide. His wife told us to be nice as we contemplated ways to mess with the ducks. "Dirty deeds done with Muscovies," neckties, TNT, pork on a string (creates a duck chain as it passes through them rapidly). People drive off the road deliberately to use them for traction. They are considered nuisance waterfowl, but naturally it is illegal to harm them. We continued to laugh and joke about them. We decided that the only good Muscovy was a dead one.

Suddenly they all became airborne. Quite a site to see, as they have been domesticated and most are overweight from the "Great American Junk Food Diet." We continued talking and didn't notice that the ducks turned and were now passing overhead. Suddenly Doy and I were hit buy a barrage, which we perceived to be wet sand thrown by the kids. Suddenly the kids and his wife began to laugh. You got it, we were covered in duck crap. Shocked( Not a drop hit the kids or his wife who was standing right next to us. Talk about paybacks!

Fortunately the bill of my cap keep the crap out of my face and mouth. Doy was not so lucky. Shocked)) We ran for the pool to wash off. Whenever Doy and I see the Muscovies now, we catch ourselves and say "beautiful ducks." Shocked)

OK, what does this have to do with the Philippines...I know.
Duck (animal) in "pato" in Bisayan, Cebuano, Hiligaynon, Tagalog and Spanish.

I just fell out of my frigging chair! Stop it Please! I think I’m gona die right here on the spot!

I don’t know what that had to do with the topic of this board (except maybe that there are a lot of ducks in Asia), but it was hilarious anyway. ROTFFLMGDAO!
