Did Soltero Die? It looks like it.
« on: November 26, 2020, 08:10:01 AM »
I really enjoyed Soltero and his thoughts more than practically anyone's.  I saw it was his birthday on facebook today and visited his page and saw a lot of Goodbyes indicting he may have passed  in July, but I also see he was logged in here September.  If indeed he has passed away, I wish him the best in next place.  I hadn't spoke or wrote to him in many years.  He really had a level head, and great sense of humor. I remember talking to him about living in Colombia, meeting for a beer someday in the future when we were old.    Perhaps someone else that has been in touch can confirm or deny if he has indeed passed away.   Good bye old buddy!

That is terrible news if true. Soltero's contributions to the forum pre-dated me (mostly) as he was a big poster in the 2005 to 2010 period.

I've read some of his old posts in the archives and there is some great info there. If he has passed he would only have been 54...way too young.

I noticed on his profile the signature says, "Live as if you will die tomorrow, Plan as if you will live forever."

It is true.
I talked with another person who knew and spoke to him more recently.   He thinks it was a heart attack, although he was plagued with other health issues.
Soltero was a creative, funny, good natured guy.  At the time I was going through the process he was a great person to talk to offline and online.  As it turns out I don't think he found his lady, so his online name winds up being fitting.

"The Legend of Sleepy Hollow"
Ichabod Crane disappears... the line goes: "As he was a bachelor, and in nobody's debt, nobody troubled their head about him anymore."

Miss you old buddy...the end of an era...

I am very sorry to hear about Soltero.  He was part of the small group of members who had a wealth of knowledge and were willing to share it with others.  I enjoyed his posts and insights.

I was so sorry to hear this news, Soltero was a great poster and in addition quite helpful to mel, he found me a place to rent in Medellin back in 2009 in the middle of the Flower festival when nothing could be found online!  RIP Soltero

He seemed to be coming from a good place, despite challenges. Hopefully in an even better place now.

Whether you think you can or think you can't--you're right!
