New and easy transit between Manila/NAIA Terminals.

 This may be useful for those transiting from an international flight to a domestic one / between terminals.

Before when transiting between terminals you had to either take the shuttle bus or a taxi both which goes  outside In heavy traffic.

Not anymore.

Now there is a van which goes between terminals but it stays inside the ramp area of the airport – it do not go outside in the heavy traffic. The van then drops you off at either the departure areas of terminal 1 or terminal 2 - awith bsolutely no traffic.

Make sure you have your printed itinerary &  passport ready.

I do not know where it is located at T1 & T2 but at T3 (which I now use) it is at the very end of the arrival hall after baggage claim. When you get to the end of the arrival hal, you will see a sign that says “Transit for Terminal 1 or 2”. It is very easy to miss.

Terminal three was almost opened the last time I was there. I know this is different other than the Manila terminal- but me being in the center of the US how could I fly into Cebu off the east coast? I know you know KFC. OBTW Merry Xmas to you and your family .....that boy has to be getting big now

For the east coast (& mid), you have a plenty of options but I will only focus on the Asian airlines and minimizing connections.
 
Cathay Pacific out of New York, New Jersey, Chicago or Boston to HK and then to Cebu.
Asiana out of Atlanta, Chicago or JFK to Soeul then to Cebu
Korean Air out of Atlanta, Chicago, JFK or Dules to Seoul & then to Cebu.
Japan Airlines out of Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, JFK to Tokyo and then to Cebu.
China Airlines (Taiwan) out of Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, JFK to Taipei and then to Cebu.
 
Philippines Airlines (PAL) will start flying out of JFK starting March 2015 - that is another option. The PAL flight will have a stopover in Vancouver.
 
Note: if you are to take a domestic airlines (AA, Delta, etc) none of them fly to Cebu (just Manila), you would have to transfer to an Asian airline - thus an other reason to just stick with an Asian airline from the beginning.
 
On a seperate note, the Boston routing would be great for folks like Piglet who is in the north east.

thank you sir, you and I have talked about this before but I don't think the Cebu terminal was not open then. Being in Kansas City I have the choice of the east coast and the west coast. I have been every which way off the west coast. Via Hawaii and Guam. Even the direct flight off of Hawaiian airlines via Honolulu. I have even done the east coast also but its always landed in Manila. All I was trying was to  save a domestic ( Filipino ) flight and a overnight stay. All the flights always seemed to land in Manila at 930pm there time. Then you have to wait over night, because no more domestic flights after 930pm. Usually after three transfers and going from the one airport to the other, almost impossible to achieve. I have connected a couple times in Atlanta I will pay closer attention to that.   thanks again theKFC  ....merry xmas

Not sure about the west coast but the east coast do give you options where you don't have to spend an overnight or land in Manila.

I did a dummy booking out of JKF & this is what I found:

Asiana Airlines
Leave JFK @1pm -  Arrive in Incheon @5:30pm
Leave ICH @ 8:20pm - Arrive in Cebu @11:55pm

Korean Airlines
Leave JFK@12pm - Arrives in Icheon @5:30pm
Leaves ICH @7:40pm - Arrives in Cebu @11:10pm

Cathay Pacific
Leaves JFK @ 12:50am - arrive in HK @5:40am
Leaves  JFK@9:10pm - stopover in Vancouver - Arrives in HK @7am
Leaves Newark @1:10 am - arrives in HK @6:00am

All 3 of those flight would give you enough time to catch the following 2  flights leaving for Cebu.
Leaves HK@8:35am - Arrives in Cebu @11:20am
Leave HK @3pm - Arrives in Cebu @7:40pm

It all depends on your routing & being flexible.

Once again thank you,,,,,I didn't mean to cloud your original post. But if I can avoid Manila all together I'm all over that. I was surprised about so many flights leaving Atlanta. I have transferred there just never made the long flight from there. But back to your original post if anything
 can ease the confsion at Manila bring it on.......

Compare to some of the airports I have been to/through - NAIA isn't that bad. As a frequent traveller, I have been to some sh**ty airports in the world - in first world countries.
 
The unfortunate thing is NAIA is in a region that have 3 of the 5 best airports in the world. If NAIA was in a place like the USA, it would be "just an other" regular airport.
 
How much better are LaGuardia, Billings Logan, Dules, Newark or LAX than NAIA? Not just the airport itself but also getting to the airport.
 
The magazine/people who rate NAIA as one of the worst airports is SLEEPING IN AIRPORTS - read again - Sleeping in Airports.  Yes, there are people who go about sleeping in airports and then rate the airports according to their "sleeping comfort". And when folks read those reports then they "misundertand" the report or just jump on the band wagon.
 
The Hartsfield - Jackson Atlanta is one of the busiest airports in the world. Most of the airlines that flies to Asia out of there only have 1 flight a day as it isn't a major "Asian Focus" city like the NYC metro area in which airlines line Cathay Pacific have 5 daily flights.

OK good information regardless,,,here's one if you ever have the chance to go to Camiguin island do it. Myself-I thought it was absolutely gorgeous.Not much of a tourist attraction but what a nice spot. Lots of foreigners have taken over the north side in the hills its also full of volcanoes like 7 of them. I think one maybe two are active. One very nice quiet resort. But the airport OMG no way will I ever fly into that island, they made several carriers quit landing  because of the safety. I think Phil.air has the only rights to do so when I was last there. I know they made Cebu- pacific quit LOL. Take my advice take the slow boat from Bohol and avoid that airport with all caution. EVEN IF YOU MADE IT  you defiantly couldn't sleep in it.......

Hi Dewey,

I absolutely loved Camiguin Island. We stayed there on our honeymoon. The residents were all extremely friendly!

We took the short ferry ride from Balingoan to the island, which I think is the best way to get there.

One mandatory stop on Camiguin is lunch on the lagoon near Binoni at J&A Fishpen. My favorite restaurant in the Philippines.

I think its my favorite place I have been so far. I loved the hot springs makes a old guy feel so much better LOL  I also like the mineral springs too.
Not so busy and and you can escape to the mountains / hills to cool off. Im like you several places to eat. I actuaaly had good pizza there. My first place I ate a sea erchant too OMG yuks LOL.

Hey Dewey,

Since I haven't been to Camiguin in some years, I was curious if they ever fixed the terrible roads.

The side roads leading to Katibawasan Falls, hot springs resort, and cold springs were particularly bad. I think some of the pot holes were bigger than the volcano craters...

Sorry Ray I was on a small vacation to Indiana. thought the roads were all well paved and nice especially the road going to and from the seismology volcano research center. Kinda narrow in places but well taken care of and paved.
