That's great. There's no guarantee and projecting way into the future makes it even harder to predict, but girls tend to grow up and take better care of their elderly parents than do guys.

Make sure she's exposed to the best of Filipino family values and way down the line, your golden years may be even golder. Not too many old folks end up in nursing homes, feeling lonely and abandoned in the Philippines.

In the USA, we often treat our animals better than our family. That's not the Filipino way. My wife is amazed that in the USA, we have salons for pets, gourmet foods, pets hotels, sophisticated and expensive medical care, billions spent on pet focused advertising--we even have pet cemeteries that are as well kept as human's.

Americans spent an estimated $52 billion on our animals in 2012, according to the American Pet Products Association.  We spent $6.2 billion on grooming and treats for our pets in 2012. That alone is more money than Facebook made in advertising revenue that year.

My wife finds all that totally ridiculous and once in a while, when I get too full of myself, my wife reminds me that years down the road--when I'm old, cranky and leaky, she's the one who'll be taking care of me!
Whether you think you can or think you can't--you're right!

I'll bet that won't last long before she runs back to bring your child back home with her. Mother-child bond...

Anyway, be sure to get the child's US passport BEFORE she leaves the country. Also, make sure she gets all her childhood immunizations regularly.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, mother-child bond.

Note that there are a lot of vaccinations that needs to be taken in the first 24 months (here in the USA).  All the Hepa, DTaP, tdap, MMR, IVP, Hib, VAR and a few others. I would recommend taking then all especially if the kid will be traveling.

it was her idea boys
she doesn't like the idea of someone watching the baby
who she doesn't know
there she has tons of family
here i have no one who lives near by
so we are more or less on our own

she also doesn't like what she sees & hears from the school children
in the province talking back to your parents may get you the switch
here it will get you a "oh please little Johny, don't do that"

she also knows the public schools are not very good (in most places)

I know that every woman is different but a lot can change between now and after the birth - especially after she start cuddling and snuggling the baby.

My wife (voluntarily) gave up (postponed) work and school to raise the little one. She want to personally take care of the little one until he is in school and then she will resume work/school.

She have family here in the USA but they are all on the west coast - Long Beach, Murrieta, San Diego (we were there last month) and Texas.

Well Piggy, this only a suggestion.

Instead of dumping the little one in the PI and having the wife go to school here, she could go back with the baby and stay there while she studies up and takes the Nursing License Exam again.

Then if she passes, I presume that she won't need any classes here??

Just a thought...

at this point she will be retaking all of her nursing classes
for her to have any real shot passing the nclex
the nursing schools in the PI are not all good quality
if they were more than 30% of the students could pass the national exam there

she will head back to school once i am finished in 2 more years

she is the one who brought up the baby going to the province not me

it's her call

WHAT IS UP WITH THESE ODD FONTS ^^^^ ? 8)

Full Moon Tonight

Since there will be a full moon tonight, I have an important assignment for you Piggy. Don't wait until tomorrow or it may be too late!

Get a bunch of garlic and place some around all of your doors and windows. Also, be sure to toss a few cloves up on the roof.

Don't worry, your wife will know what it's for...  :D
