Hello PL board
« on: December 09, 2013, 03:57:46 AM »
Hello everyone, new on this site as a former U.S. service member I have been to dozens of countries but my heart is for Latin American women. I'm interested in finding a Columbiana or Dominica. I have used AFA service but have been ripped off in my honest opinion. But I think with the help from this board I can find my Latin queen.

Heh.  Yeah.  Welcome to the forum ddot.  It's a good site for general info to gt you moving in the right direction.  First bit of advice, as Gato notes, Columbia is a city in South Carolina.  The country is Colombia with an "o".  We got a lot of guys here who spend a great deal of time there and can give you the inside scoop and the where and what of the country.

ddot,

You may also want to check up on Dominica....  I don't believe the populace speaks Spanish - nor would it be considered to be a country where one would go in search for the so-called "Latin queen"

You could end up in the wrong place ....[just saying....]

the following from Wikipedia:

Dominica:  Country

Dominica, officially the Commonwealth of Dominica, is an island nation in the Lesser Antilles region of the Caribbean Sea, south-southeast of Guadeloupe and northwest of Martinique.

Hello ddot.  Where did you use afa was it in colombia or dominica?  What happened?

I used afa for Colombia trips and I was told that the 5 ladies I was corresponding with recently left the agency. That's OK but afterward I got an email saying she was interested in meeting me. I can't constantly keep paying for emails and trips to meet want looked like base head women.

The best thing you can do is not rely too much on an agency or someone else. Learn some spanish, have a backup plan and be ready to fly by the seat of your pants. I always looked at each trip as an adventure because I knew plans could easily fall thru.

Hi ddot, welcome to P-L. I was hoping you could write a trip report about your experience with AFA. I joined their web site for the 3 month plan and met some girls online who were pretty nice. The one thing I got discouraged with was that some of the girls I liked were using the AFA studio pictures and when I would ask them for recent, candid photos or when I met them on Skype I was usually pretty amazed at how different they looked. I think it is a disservice for AFA to use those phony pictures, it probably gets a lot of guys, l was one, excited enough to join so I guess that's why they do it.
I was always a little curious about what one of their tours would be like. What did you think of it?

Hey Ddot,

First of all, thanks for your service.

Do you speak Spanish? A few guys I know personally have had a lot of luck going off the beaten path to cities gringos don't usually frequent. That goes for the DR as well. If you're the kind of guy that can hold his own in a foreign land and adapt to the culture without much assistance from locals you may want to consider that option. Just a suggestion though. There are some great cities in Southern Colombia with tons of gorgeous women that are more than anxious to meet a good man. If you have a chance hop on Colombian Cupid and search for girls in cities like Armenia, Neiva, Palmira, Cartago, etc...cites in that region. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Plenty of awesome women in the bigger cities of Colombia as well but there's alot more gringo competition and "interesadas" looking for their next sponsor. And as always...use you head when getting to know foreign women on the internet. The one above your beltline.  ;D

Considering how little we know about ddot I'd say the advice is good. In terms of traveling he can get by with "traveler's Spanish". If he lives in North Dakota (or most places in the USA) and he plans to relocate a woman then that plays a big role in it. My personal thoughts on that are to find a woman that already knows some English.

When I see someone misspell the name of the country it just tells me that there is a big learning curve ahead for that person. But if he reads the boards and travel info out there he can close that gap.

Again I don't know his age and physical appearance, but I've always wondered why people don't just go the Puerto Rican route over the DR. When I look at the personals of both countries I don't see the women of the DR being any hotter. I don't think either location would be a top destination for me, but at least with PR the women can travel to see your digs.

My very first Latina crush when I was about 20 was for a PR woman. Wow, she was a knockout and had the sexiest accent I ever heard. She also had a lot of boyfriends, some of whom had more money than me:)

Here's an interesting link talking about Puerto Rican women. The last two entries on page 3 were most interesting.

Not sure why that link isn't working for me. I'm not endorsing PR just noting the obvious about their citizenship.

The link isn't working because it got grayed out by the moderator on this site:)
Apparently it's a competing site. I should have thought about that before I posted it. Sorry.
To make a long story short, the thread in the other forum was about PR women and how they are very close to the characteristics of American Women, but, just like any other country, there are good ones to be found, just takes some effort.

Sure well they are American citizens. This may sound horrible but for a younger guy he gets to try it out without committing which isn't a bad thing though. If in a couple years she turns out to be a "scum sucking leach" then he didn't put a ring on it.

That's pretty freaking hilarious. LOL!

To your point Andy Lee...I've found the same thing. Las Boriquas have much more in common with American Women than their Latina Counterparts. The difference is you still get those knockout, gorgeous Latin American looks. IJS... 8)

No agencies that I'm aware of. POF sucks for PR. How do guys go about tacking it. Do they just show up and go out?

There are more Puerto Ricans living in NYC than there are in Puerto Ricans in Puerto Rico. Like Miami is to Spanish people generally speaking, NYC is to Puerto Ricans specifically--in some neighborhoods, very little English is heard.

My buddies and I used to drive into the Bronx and try to hit on some of the babes, and they're some really, really hot ones, but just like you've got to keep your wits about you in NYC in general, you really better watch your azz if you're not P.R. yourself and you're out to have a little fun and adventure. Some of the guys get real jealous--protective. A lot of those gals are really sharp and like the guys, are tough and they'll set you straight (to put it nicely) if you don't know how to act. I doubt with the huge population there that many Puerto Rican women use dating agencies---no real need.

Welcome dot, no need to be embarrassed about the spelling, it is a common mistake and auto correct certainly doesn't help.
Like the guys have said, take your time reading the archives and feel free to ask anything if you are curious about how would that apply in your specific situation or even if you want an opinion on your profile.

Just be honest in your posts, nobody will judge you and you will probably get much better advice if you specify whether you are looking for something serious, just fun or even just a trophy wife. Lot's of experienced guys here can tell you what to avoid if they know what you are looking for.

Robert,

Spot on comments and that has generally been my experience with Boriquas. A lot more of then in NYC and Miami than Houston...or PR for that matter. They are a feisty bunch of women though...GEEZ! They love hard and usually take very good care of their significant others, but make sure your plate dodging skills are on point if you piss one off.
