Landed in Barranquilla last night
« on: March 30, 2013, 07:18:34 PM »
Got into Barranquilla last night tired and a little drunk from the long hours and high altitude drinks. I actually met a pretty hot Colombian woman on the flight from panama to here, so I got her info for later. One of the girls i met on Colombia Cupid (two others on standby) met me at the airport, so that was real cool and shes staying with me as I write this message from the Sonesta hotel restaurant. Oh, and btw, Benjio couldn't make it because he got called away with work and had to reschedule, so we'll catch up another trip. I'm gonna make a few bullet points, then come back for an update later.
.
1. If traveling from the US I suggest exchanging cash to pesos at the Travelex currency exchange at the pre international flight airport. If you exchange 600 dollars or more, there's no fee,and if you come back with pesos, they'll exchange it back to dollars at no charge. Also make sure to stand your ground if or when someone tries to overcharge you or give you a different peso/dollar value.
.
2. @Whitey, thanks for the suggestion to El Prado Hotel and room 202, however, I guess I am spoiled because I ditched that place after one night. They raised the rate on me 10 dollars at check in, the room was smaller than I thought, and NO HOT WATER. The building is classic looking though, like the movie casa Blanca. Anyhow, I and my gal closed service there and had the taxi tale us to hotel sonesta. This place is very swanky and modern for 30 dollars more ($110 US walk in price), not to mention the super nice rooms with non-window unit, freakin loud a/c units, and a 15 square foot granite rain shower in the bathroom with, yes you guessed it lots of hot water. It's perfect for two even three. The food isn't over priced either and although it's away from downtown, the area is upper scale and safe (strata 6), and within 5 minutes to other shopping areas. I'm with a girl who knows this place inside out, so she took me to all my business ventures and got it all done in one day. Now, I almost have too much extra time on my hands.
.
3. Can't remember who recommended I quit Latin america for Colombian Cupid, but thanks, that was spot on and is a total must do if you dont wanna come and start from zero. I was talking to gals a month before I got here and won't worry about being alone. Btw whomever it was that suggested colcupid, please remind me and again, spot on. Wait, I think tat was mambocowboy, thanks again.
.
4. One huge advantage to being new in central or south America Is speaking the language. If you're new, and don't speak Spanish, you're gonna feel real lonely and vulnerable. Knowing the language first is a huge leg up. If not, meet a girl online first so she can watch out for you while here, unless of course you met her thru Jaimes service, then I'm sure you're good to go.
.
5. If you're always hungry like me, stay somewhere with plenty of places to eat close by and of food you can handle. The food here is not like back home and places not as sanitary depending where youre at, so if you're at a hotel that serves common food, stick to that.  I have a tendancy to eat seafood and anything uncommon like maybe from a wagon pulled by a donkey, and that has haunted me several times, hence the pepto.
..
Anyhow, Im done with business and am covered for company, so now I'm thinking of going to Rodadero beach in Santa Marta on Monday to chillax for a few days. I hear that beach isn't as touristy as others.
.
P.s . For things to do, tall modern hotels, casinos, and party, I prefer panama. If im correct , BQ is mainly the hub for jaime' s place.

Yeah...again I'm really sorry about that buddy. If you want some work related stress, try to get something done anywhere in South America during Semana Santa. I should have known better when I scheduled the trip. But no worries...I'll be there in a month. Sounds like you're knee deep in Costeña anyway! LOL!!! Enjoy Stevie...WELCOME TO COLOMBIA!

Sorry you didn't like el Prado ... it really isn't for everyone.  I love the old world charm ... you won't find anything like it in North America.  Sonesta as you say is very high end and modern ... my buddy stayed there once and took me for a tour ... great place to impress a woman!

Looking forward to hearing more of your adventures.  Don't miss happy hour at Henry's!

El Rodadero should be good now that Semana Santa is over ... not where you would want to be this past week!  Cartagena is great for a day or two also ... really not that much to do in Barranquilla itself.

La Troja!  Passed by there many times and it looks like fun ... right behind la estacion Joe Arroyo.

I was just joking with Nazly a couple days ago that I'm going to take her there one day ... but I need to learn salsa first ... no way I'm going there without a few more lessons!

Yeah she was very impressed with the hotel. So where is Henry's? Is that the club down the hall from the reception area? or the hotel bar? Nothhing here is open as far as bars because of the santa semana. I can still order drinks at the restaurants, but not any open bars.
.
MC mentioned La troja, but I ve already been caught too many times gawking at costenas that walk by. That club sounds like thered be hot asses and tits everywhere and my eyes would get me in trouble with my date. I've already realized even though Barranquilla isnt a big "hot spot", there's sooo many hot women here. No wonder the men here arent faithful. We went to Buena Vista Mall and walked around, and let's just say I was glad i was wearing baggy jeans. I especially realized that even though I havent been to the best places alone to meet girls yet, that i knew I could do better than what I had. That sounds messed up and machista, but it's true, the odds are in the man's favor. The ideal woman is the woman that has it ALL minus 30%. That's my preferred equation. Not a 10, just a good 7 who is balanced all around, body and spirit .

Unless you make WAY more money than I think you do, a 7 is the best you can hope for anyway.

Henry's is right next to Parque Washington ... your chica will know where it is.

Here's a little more info ... the other bars/clubs on this page are very good also:

Damn that's cold. But I will say... while you were walking around the mall with your chica looking for the bbd (bigger better deal)... did you stop and think if you had the skills to pick up back home the current arm candy you had?
That and I don't think being a poor spanish speaker like myself is such a big disadvantage. First I've never gotten lonely traveling even if communication was challenging and basic at times. That and you've got to know English to get around most of the USA... so i figure if anything my requirement that all chicas be close to a conversational level in English or above... that's a good thing as far as transitioning to the USA.

Not cold at all.  Just being realistic.

You've got to realize this dude was pulling straight ZERO in the us, so if he can manage to get a 5 or 6 in colombia that's still a MAJOR improvement.

And you also have to keep in mind marrying her and bringing her stateside is one thing.  Keeping her is a whole other mountain to climb.  If he somehow manges to get a 7 and brings her back to austin he's going to have to spend alot of money on her and keep her locked up in the house and never let her go out alone.  He wont' be able to let her go to school, have a job, have her own friends her age.  Because as soon as she realizes attractive women her age are going around with guys younger, better looking, and who have more money than him the marriage is going to fall to pieces real quick.

There's nothing wrong with a 5 or 6.  Anything above that you better have a LARGE bank account or it's not going to last one year.

An 8, 9, or 10?  That's not even realistic.  No way that's even an option for stevieboy.

didn't say you were wrong. i dont know what most of the guys look like on this board and try not to call them muy feo. If you notice from the questions I asked... I did ask how he was scoring in the USA... i just don't want to be a hypocrite at this point. my wife probably belongs on the cover of magazines... so how do i suggest other guys not go overseas and do what they want... but ultimately I agree... can you keep her once you go to the crazy amount of work to bring her back.

Jaaaajajaaa!!!  I'm only laughing because I can picture you sitting at your computer with your coffee cup shaking your head at what I'm saying. :D

Bust seriously though, none of what I said was talking crap.  A 5 or 6 isn't bad at all.  I'd date a 6 or maybe a 5 if she had a really cool personality.

Let me break down my number grading system.

10- perfection

9- drop dead gorgeous,,,super model fine

8- super hot,,,,,unattainable to most normal guys

7- hot,,,,a normal guy would be damn proud to have a 7 on his arm

6-nice looking,,,,would still make you look good to be seen with in public

5-ok,,,still not bad

4- bangable....on the down low

3-not even bangable

2- no comment

1- no comment

Now going by this scale, if stevieboy was able to get him a 5 or 6 in his hometown he never would've even found this website and he damn sure wouldn't be spending thousands of dollars and countless hours on skype trying to get him a wife from colombia.  If he tries to go above a 6 he'd be setting himself up for failure.  8's 9's and 10's, forget about it.  He could definitely rent one for a few days but that's about as far as his budget would take him.  Zon could probably help him out with that.  :)

Well based on those photos he posted with the other women in a different thread, he doesn't look too old or bad-looking and he does speak Spanish, has a job…I don’t know about his personality but assuming it is not horrid, I don’t see why he can’t shoot for the best looking women that are willing to go out with him.
If it were me, I’d go ahead and go forward with a real attractive woman because being motivated to see the whole thing through requires a lot of effort, patience, and determination.  For me, I would not be likely to follow through with all of this hassle if I felt for a moment that my choice was anything but the best I could do.  Although numbering systems are subjective and silly a 5/6/7 just wouldn’t do, if it were me.

You're saying the exact same thing I'm saying.  I'm only mentioning that tops out at 7 at the very, maximum best.

I'm thinking your numbering system and mine are WAY different ft.  Either that or I'm grotesquely underestimating your budget and your ability to get attract beautiful women.

I agree that you are grotesquely underestimating.

A rather average man can pull an extremely attractive lady.  After that, it is up to two individuals.

Don't know bout Stevie but I don't see why he can't pull an extremely attractive lady. I've seen it happen with several others.

Sure I agree with you 100% an average guy can pull an extremely attractive woman.  But that average guy better have some WAY above average game or a WAY above average bank account.  Obviously stevie has little to no game or he'd be able to get something decent in his hometown.  So the only things he's got going for him are his middle class bank account and his little us passport.  These assets just don't quite add up to "extremely attractive women" by my logic.

FT has a point. You have to remember H, the coast of Colombia ain't Paizanoland. I think the average gringo can do much better in Barranquilla compared to Medellin if what he's looking for is attractive wife material (even though I've never been to Medellin). That's just my impression of the place from what I've heard, read and knowing tons of Paisas. I would think the combination of really good looking women looking for a husband is much more common in Barranquilla, while really good looking women looking for a meal ticket is much more common in Medellin. I will admit there can be a very fine line between the two though. There's something else you should consider as well. I know plenty of Paizano Playboys. Tall, in good shape, well dressed, nice cars, get haircuts at gay a$$ beauty salons in the mall, nice jewelry and watches, luxury apartments. Plenty of those guys in Medellin, right? I know because they come here to Bogota to party and visit their women on the side. Along the coast that's a rare find for a woman, even though the level of attractiveness amoungst Costenas is probably equal to that of Paisas (depending on your taste...obviously Costenas have different physical characteristics in general). Most Colombians from the coast don't have a pot to piss in much less the pesos it takes to buy designer clothing. Those that do are usually older men. IMHO that lowers the standards of women from the coast a bit...especially if they've never had the opportunity to travel anywhere else. I've seen a 50 year old, balding guy get attention from multiple 10's at Jamie's. And I'm pretty sure our numeric rating system is on the same page having spent time in the same places in Houston. There's nothing wrong with it in my opinion. If you're going to tie yourself down, do it with a woman that puts a bulge in your pants everytime she steps out of the shower and can't find her towel fast enough. If you can't find that woman where you are, go somewhere else.

Whether or not a man can keep a younger, very attractive woman from straying once she's back in the states is obviously another story.

HT -

Put down the crack pipe!  First you do not KNOW,  SB may not want anything to do with a NAW.  Then you say you agree that a average guy can find a very attractive women here,  BUT you go on to say crap about IF he has a lot of coin and/or a lot of game.  If a guy has tons of coin and game,  then he is NOT average.

What BenJ said about the coast here,  has a ton of truth in it.  The difference in economics and opportunity between Barq and Med is night and day.

It is not like all Colombianas are above average,  as some would have you think.  You know that,  when we were hanging down in Centro we saw plenty of not so attractive women.
The deal with Colombia is there are way more nice/attractive,  AVAILABLE women.  If you took your 5 from here and went back to Omaha,  she becomes a 7.  It is all relative.  The point is,  most any guy can do better for himself here.  I am talking total package.

If you really believe that crap you are putting down,  then why do you come south?

You have gotten very negative ever since you took DIM.  At their current pace,  they are going to be in the playoffs for relegation to the second division,  OUCH!

I have no idea what htown is talking about as usual. I've NEVER had problems picking up women at home as he claims, and frankly, not to sound snobby, I think I'm a pretty handsome devil myself.  I also have plenty of game and am a funny mothrfuker. Women love men that have a job, a decent size penis, can dance, have values, and especially can make them laugh. The girl I've been with (not saying anyone is saying that) isn't toothless and runs around barefoot, although she did one of the nicest things; when I wasn't looking, she washed my clothes in the sink and hung them to dry in the shower. She had originally called downstairs to inquire about laundry services, and when she saw how high the fees were, she thought to wash my clothes by hand instead of me wasting my money. Now that's a good woman. An American woman might have complained about the price and maybe washed her panty hose yet never thought of the man. I would say this gal is a 6.75 by my standards. A girl like her at her age in America would be about a 4. I don't know any girls back home her age (34) that look that good and don't have at least one kid.
.
If I'm correct, isn't this site basically for men who are explorers that are tired of westernized women? Does htown assume PL users are desperate and ugly? If that's the case, whats he doin here? Maybe they should change the site name to Planet-uglymotherfukerswithlittedikswhocantgetlaidnorfindlove.com.
.
Anyhow, I'm still here, but gonna shorten my stay because I blew my budget on business investment. I thought I was done on saturday, but I made great biz connections and couldn't stop myself. For now, I've been with Monica the entire time because we've been enjoying each other too much for me to send her home and meet the other girls I had scheduled.  I would post a picture of her, but I'll ask her permission first. Yeah, once Again, nothing super exciting to report. I know I'll be back soon.

Planet-uglymotherfukerswithlittedikswhocantgetlaidnorfindlove.com

DIBS ON THE URL! I'm already on GoDaddy buying it now so don't even try it fellas!  ;D

Stevie, I'm glad everything is working out man! You probably wouldn't have had time to hang out with me anyway! Your girl sounds like a winner to me. I've had the same experience with girls washing my clothes without me even suggesting it. It's the little things that make a huge difference with us gringos. There are tons of guys that don't even realize what they're missing out on until they touch down somewhere in Latin America. And if she's hot enough for you, I wouldn't give a fat rat a$$ what any other man has to say about it. Enjoy the rest of your time there and I hope you can make it back down there in a month when I arrive.
