ITEMS STOLEN FROM YOU IN YOUR NATIVE COUNTRY?
« on: March 13, 2013, 05:18:29 PM »
Before you speak about getting robbed in Colombia, I just found out today that items from my bicycle shed was stolen and I live in ENGLAND - not Colombia!!!

Items containing about 300 "clearance" clothes along with about 50 x Playboy Handbags. (4 large boxes and 4 medium boxes).  One box containing souvenirs weren't stolen!

The shed wasn't forced opened!  Apparently, the thieves unlocked it, stolen my items and then lock back in which is very unusual.   I get the feeling that the thieves (had to be more than 1, too heavy to carrying large boxes by 1 person) live one of my neighbours and wonder if their bicycle sheds have the same key to my bicycle shed which is NOT ununsual.  I'll wait and see to see the police tomorrow

BACK TO THE POINT

Have you ever had anything stolen from your house/garage/shed while living in your native country  (UK, USA, Australia, etc)?

A long long time ago, my shed in the backyard was invaded and I lost many power tools.  I didn't lock it because it was in my own backyard.  I had my suspicions but couldn't say for sure who got to them.

When I was 14 years old living with my parents our house was buglarized. The theives took EVERYTHING! And when I say everything...I MEAN EVERYTHING!!! Right down to the silverware, flashlights, toilet paper, clothing, my comic book collection, envelopes, my younger sister's panties (she was only 11 at the time).  Some of the stuff wasn't even worth carrying. It was almost as if the house was new and no one had moved in yet when we got back. They had obviously been casing the neighborhood so when we went on a family vacation to Orlando for two weeks they sort of had their way with the place. There were seven more houses hit that summer in our subdivision alone. In a neighborhood like the one I grew up in that's normal though. Houses getting broken into, car jackings, convenient store robberies, etc. The worse thing is when someone makes up in their minds they're going to raid a drug house and steal from a dealer. That usually always meant a shoot out, multiple bodies and innocent victims...sometimes young children.

The only thing I never understood about Colombia is family stealing from family and friends stealing from friends. Something that's a little more common on the coast from my experience, but it's amazing that people do that to each other. I have never had to worry about leaving money on the kitchen table when I had friends or family over in Houston. And I swear, you can catch a Colombian red-handed and they will lie through their teeth until the very end.

20 years ago, while I was moving back in with my parents after college so I could job hunt, they had just bought a house out in the country.  I was helping move my stuff and theirs into the new house.  In between trips, a space of just a few hours, someone broke in and ripped off a bunch of stuff including my PC (not cheap in those days).  The only thing I really missed from the HD was a bunch of genealogy records for which I had no back-up.  It took me a few years to reconstruct all the info.

And last year someone stole my ID and tried to drain my bank account.  A sharp teller quickly put a stop to it.  I contacted the police, but they gave me the run-around "not my job, not my jurisdiction" since the event occurred in a different city from where I live.  Stupid lazy fat chucks.

One day my work van was broken into in my driveway and all my work tools were stolen including a brand new sack of weed in the console. I hadn't even opened yet. Is nothing sacred?  :'(

:o :o :o There is no honor any more!!!!  ::)

2 years ago I was visiting a cousin on the other side of town when I got a call from the police. They were in my house because they just caught two teenagers inside it!!!  :o The neighbour's dog caught them actually and the police got there fast enough to arrest them. Nothing was stolen thanks to the big dog.

I had a simlar thing happen many years ago. I had my own large black dog at the time. She stopped a would be theif in the middle of the night. Except that guy got away.

My local sports club has been broken into and robbed several times in the last year.  :'( No doubt local teenagers with nothing better to do.

My now wife had her iPad stolen out of her bedroom in Colombia - which means it was one of about 200 friends or family. The knowledge it was one of them would leave a bitter taste in one's mouth if one did not let it go. So I'd say fathertime is righ on the money with his comment.

My wife and I can't wear our wedding rings in Colombia due to fear of being targeted.

So yeah crime happens in any large city but the safety factor in Colombia is whole other level compared to what I am used to.

I am very sorry that things were stolen, especially Benjio - everything was stolen!!!

I had the suspicion and already informed the police.  I caught an eBay seller who is very local to me, selling EXACTLY the same items that were stolen from my shed.   Playboy handbags and Ralph Lauren polo shirts.  The odds are very high for anyone selling both of them, plus the seller isn't new (but only very few items were sold in the last 2 years - non playboy handbags and RL polo shirts, and now 3 of them in the listings placed only 2 days ago) and bid only 99p for the RL polo shirt!!!

I recgonised them.  The police is waiting from eBay to get the address of the seller and find out if it is the seller that stolen my items.

A big silver/grey suticase with 2 'trolley' ruscacks inside it were also stolen.   I told the police that one of them had "TOTTO" brands which is not sold in UK....   The odds will be very high if the TOTTO ruscak is found in the house

I'll wait and see...

Several years ago...A brown eyed, dark-haired, very Busty, Greek girl stole my virginity over and over again.

I have never been the same since then; I feel so dirty...but in a good way.

I've heard they're not too fond of shaving...could that have anything to do with the dirty feeling? LOL!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
