garotas de programa or GDP means basically hookers. Prostitution is legal in Brazil, pimping is illegal. GDP women are so popular the world over that some travel to Europe, the Middle East and The Americas. Rio is visited by men from around the world for this reason.

Which is why some people think its not a good place to find a wife? I think there other reasons for this and it has little to do with GDP or Termas or any of that stuff.

Here we go again with somebody canceling out an entire country saying their women aren't marriage material.  Guys on here saying american women aren't any good.  Then british and australian women.  Mexican women, colombian women.  Now it's brazilian women.

I say it's all a bunch of bs.  There's nothing wrong with women in these countries.  It's all about YOU.  It's all about the guy.  If you're a good guy you'll find a good woman, plain and simple.  No matter what country you're in.

I couldn't agree more... But Colombia is the focus of this forum for some reason, maybe the title of the forums should be changed to Colombia General Discussion.

Brazil is the largest country in Latin America and has the biggest economy and largest population. That's alot to write-off.

As I said I think there are socioeconomic forces at work here and it has nothing to do with GDP's.

Hi A_Thomas,  If I'm reading you right, you are saying something along the lines of "The Ladies aren't at all that interested in older foreign men and don't feel the need to comprimise" Is that where you are going with this, or is it somewhere else?

Thanks,

H_Town,  I agree with you 4-square on this one.  I hear a constant stream of complaints about women from X country and Y country, and Z country.  Oftentimes it is the same person complaining about women in several regions.  My feeling still remains that there are women with reasonable goals/aspirations in all the countries...Nice ladies FOR THE RIGHT MAN.
I say roll the dice and take your chances, or sit at home and wish upon a star, but don't continue impotently complaining about it.

No, I am saying the price of brides in Brazil has likely gone up... So its a mixture of what your saying, that older men who look like old men likely stand no chance with women more than 10 years their Jr. I would also say any of the three B's (bald, broke, beer belly) will get you no where but maybe with a woman from a Favela. Brazil is an image conscious society or can't you tell? You don't have to be beautiful to get a wife in Brazil but if you think you're going to get a poor man's version of Xuxa you'll be disappointed.

The reason why Latin women in general even consider men outside of their countries or any other country frankly is the behavior or treatment they get from local men. Some have other motives and I'm pretty sure you know what those are.

In a societies were men call all the shots, there is no hurry for the men that have great jobs or come from a wealthy family to all of sudden think of marriage at 25. Women aim high, they always do until they get a dose of reality. In LA if you like short and dark I seriously doubt you would have much trouble finding a wife. Outside of the MOB market, you're chasing the same women moneyed locals are. That is until about age 30, when the money/status crowd is done with those ladies because fresh 18 year olds have been added to the roster.

In your favor however is that women outnumber men in almost every society on earth with Latin America and Africa being among the youngest societies in the world. I guess what I am saying is, if your average joe and dated average jane in the US, you can upgrade in LA because of the Gringo Advantage but I don't think that extends to Brazil. In my experience I just don't see it...

Over the past 12 years I dated at least 200 Latinas , mostly Colombian. I still occasionally hear from ladies I used to date and all but 1 are married, and they are married to Colombian men and are very happy. I think the " Colombian men are dogs" is just an excuse to experiment.  to have an adventure and try something new, rebel against the norm. In the end, most come back to their culture and settle down. This perhaps is why you see the vast majority of Marriages to Extranjeros crash and burn because most really never had a serious desire to make them work in the first place Thus the female version of  the "Test Drive"

I’ve noticed the same thing as KB…many of the gals have married Colombian men.  I think it could be like KB says that they were looking for a sense of adventure. Another explanation is that there wasn't that many gringos travelling, and among the ones that were many were not marriage material for one reason or another.

Great post overall and I especially agree with the point quoted above. As I said in another post: most attractive, middle class Brazilian Women aren't going to be impressed with the fact that you're a foreigner. There has to be something else there. And although Brazil is a very image conscious culture, Brasileras are usually much smarter about who they choose to date. It's not just about looks with the ones that are worth your time...even though they may easily pass for 8-10's anywhere in the world. I see absolutely gorgeous women here with average guys all the time and the guys are nowhere near rich...they are just stable. In Colombia a line I've heard a million times from younger Colombianas is, "My friend met a 30 year old, rich, blue eyed, full head of blonde hair, 6'4" , 235 lbs. with 3% body fat gringo that buys her everything she wants and takes care of her family financially here in Colombia (obviously exaggerating but you all know what I mean  ;D ). Perhaps at some time in history this did happen, but guys like that usually don't have to move an inch in the states, Europe or Australia and women are falling all over them. Much less flying 5000 miles to have foreign women doing the same thing. Guys I know that look like that don't even consider what we're doing as a viable option. They always ask me why I went to Colombia in the first place, assuming that any woman I met would be looking for nothing more than a ticket to the U.S.

I've found women in Brazil don't have those types of expectations from a man...regardless of how attractive, educated or financially well off they may be. You see, Brazil is already full of 30 year old, rich, blue eyed, full head of blonde hair, 6'4" and 235 lbs. with 3% of body fat guys. But these men are almost never faithful. They are rich, pretty boy, Indy Car Racing Enthusiast that have 3 gorgeous girlfriends at a time and 10 more on a waiting list. The Brasileras I know personally that are serious about finding someone are more worried about how mentally and emotionally stable you are. Will you be bending her best friend over the bathroom sink one night at a party because you're both drunk. What are your goals for the future. There are very few gringo hunting, marriage minded women in Brazil because gringos don't come here to wife hunt. They come here to monger. The few married couples I know of consisting of an American Man and a Brazilian Woman are usually the result of the guy working here for an extended period of time, or the Brazilian woman living in the states for a while.

Now don't get me wrong. There are plenty of women in Colombia looking for the same thing. Good, stable men that are marriage minded. Tons and tons of girls that want only that. But the market is a little tainted because of a few bad apples and the fact that foreigners looking for serious relationships there is so much more common.  Kiltboy made an excellent point as well and I attribute this to the fact that families are so closely knit in Colombia. You are asking a woman to take on quite a challenge when you expect them to move thousands of miles away from everything they've ever known. Family is extremely important in Brazil too, but the culture is slowly evolving and becoming more American in that respect. I work with a dozen women that are single, 100% independent, career women with cars that live alone. Seriously...how many Colombian Women have you met like that?

I think it all boils down to exploring your options and seeing what best fits you. I've met guys at Jamie's that couldn't really make anything happen and ended up marrying women back in the states. And they are happy with that decision. My advice would be not to rule out any country because of a generalization. There are simply too many exceptions to the things you may be perceiving as a rule (like there are too many women prostituting in Rio to find a good woman here...PSSSSHHHH!!!!). You never try, you never know.

You are 100% spot on! Senna never married and he's not the only one... He was very typical of an attractive, middle to upper class Brazilian man that had the pick of the litter every single time.

That said, there are TONS of Brazilian women looking for a LTR from a man that's faithful. Its typical Latin culture down there when it comes to love and romance. They call the shots, they make the rules and the women generally suffer. That's not to say all men are like that and not to say those independent women you were talking about aren't marriage minded either.

Its just a reaction to what typically happens. If her husband does cheat, she has her own income and career to support herself; Especially if hubby is protecting his assets in a SA Corp.

Wouldn't it be great to have your wife featured on a Carnival Float???

That would confirm my wife is MAD SEXY.... I love being right, revenge is sweet when its served COLD.

A_Thomas,  I don’t know much about Brazil but what you said does make some sense.  If the ladies are enjoying their lives there and have great looking guys locally that can take care of their needs, then why marry some bald, slightly beer bellied old guy.  So what is your plan?  Where are you travelling to in the near future?   As you know, there is no shortage of willing babes and if you feel you are a young 42 year old, you are not going to lack for options.
Fathertime!

The plan? I haven't the foggiest... I feel and look younger than 42, I just told some guy on the bus I was 42 because I remembered the Unknown Comic and The Gong Show. He said "You don't look it" I get that constantly its not a figment of my imagination.

If I showed you a picture of when I was 28 and when I was 38, you won't see any difference, other than style of clothing.

@42, besides grey in my beard (when I don't shave) I look late 20's, early 30's.

I like Brazil, always wanted to go and always wanted to go looking for a wife, not to monger.

Plus I thought it would be fun to live in Brazil for awhile.

I've been also thinking about Central America and how its no under assault from MOB industry because of CIA data I would assume.

Why not go on the unbeaten (and abused) path?
