You'll actually find a lot of girls that are with agencies in Latin America on one or numerous Cupid sites, LatinEuro, etc....and they'll usually take advantage of any other vessel of communication where they feel they can meet foreign men. There's nothing wrong with this in my opinion. But you're seriously deluding yourself if you think "gringo hunters" don't communicate with each other and give each other advice on how to keep a good catch when they find one. I can tell you from first hand experience that many of the girls put those suggestions into practice too. Is that not what most of us are doing here?
 
With all that being said, congrats Mambocowboy! Success stories like yours keep me searching for that special someone SOTB.

I like reading htown's works but I think it is a little too stinging to imply in any way these rather questionable motives about men's wives.  The general point is taken though.

The chances that you're the 'only one' before you put a ring on her finger (and maybe even then still) are pretty slim unfortunately. Maybe you don't see it--maybe she's good at hiding her tracks, maybe you don't want to see it or feel it's yellow and not a red flag, but I think people 'play the game' a lot more than we realize. Both sides too.

But, all I meant to say was maybe MC's wife had already dealt with a couple of liars and wannabe players and maybe the hotel story was her way of letting him know that she wasn't going to tolerate any bs'ing or playing around.  Maybe up to that point he'd presented himself as a genuine guy and she expected him to follow through with that 100%.  Obviously they were on the same page and everything worked out for the best.

The hotel probably did rat him out .  I have seen it countless times first hand in many a city. Also dont put it a past the girls you  might be messing around with to ask at the desk or talk to bell boys etc.In this case her parents probably made a big stink and accused the hotel staff and they kindly informed the parents that their daughter wasn't his only guest during the week.

I'm not sure what the rates would be when you are on your trip, but likely the $145.000 rate.

I've said it before, but worth repeating ... the rooms themselves are nothing special ... they are average at best.  What I love about the place is that it is an old Colonial hotel with a great courtyard and pool.

If you are looking for modern, luxurious, American style ... there are several good choices.  The Estelar that you mention is only about 3 years old and very modern.

El prado has a nice pool   thats about it if you ask me.   I prefer the Dann Carlton  I think the rooms are better  It is right across from the mall which is convenient easy to pick up anything you may need.  http://www.hotels.com/ho241575/dann-carlton-barranquilla-barranquilla-colombia/   I think the rooms are great it has a casino  and a cool pool area I am not a huge fan of all the Dann Carltons but i do like this one.  I would stay here before the prado anyday andtwice on Sunday

I really liked the Dann Carlton also, but I had some good times with that pool at the Prado.   If given a choice between the two I'd take the Dann Carlton as well, it's location was superior for me and it had a pretty good pool too.

My logic for it was always that we are not Colombian Citizens...so we are not benefiting from any taxes being collected by the government during a transaction. I'm not 100% sure that's the reason though. My hotel tax is always removed from my final bill in Brazil as well.
