Thanks Stevieboy for bringing this issue up.  It looks like a strong  commitment is needed to move the visa processes forward.  Maybe focusing on a relationship is where your mind should concentrate.  I'd say preplanning is good but don't let interfere with what you have going with your love interests.

Oh yea stevieboy since you're deadset on colombianas as opposed to other latinas that can easily be found in texas, NYC and south Florida have very large colombian populations.

I see you seem to be in a hurry to get a chick over here to the us well you might as well forget about that.  It's going to be probably at least 1-2 years before one of your colombian sweethearts steps foot on us soil.  You might want to consider checking out the colombian areas in florida and new york, since they're already in the country you don't have to worry about any lengthy visa process.

Another thing to think about is find you a colombiana who already has a visa to come here.

You could also try puerto rico.  I'd bet puerto rican women might have the traditional values you're looking for and they don't need any visa to come.

We also have a large colombian population here in houston.  There are many colombian restaurants and night clubs here.  Ask benjio about the colombian festivals we have!! :)

Just throwing out a few random ideas for you.
.
Good points about latinas in the US, however, if there's so many, why aren't the guys on PL doing it? Why go thru the trouble and expense of going so far? What latin dating sites do these women go on? I  dont have the gumption and time to go to all these clubs, especially since I'll be alone. Not only that, I would have met them at a club. Of course there's latin ladies in NYC, Florida. Have you ever gone to any of these clubs and talked to these chicks? The one's in New Jersey aren't any better. But they're not just colombians, they're el salvadorans, cubans, dominicans, that have been here for a while and dress and act trashy.  Dude,  been there done that over and again.
.
The point is to find a woman who isn't corrupted by our culture. One who only trusts and doesnt need anyone else but you, especially not found at a night club. Now on that note, I'm gonna start going to a salsa club here "Glorias" to bone up on some dancing.
.
As for visas, after speaking to Luz on skype last night, she mentioned a cousin of hers who was on Cupid and found a gringo to marry. She just got her fiance visa that took 6 months. I wonder if this guy is a member of PL. Luz sent me a picture of them at Carnaval in BQ. Any of you guys him? Do you live in Tampa Florida?

You also recommended waiting to pay for the hotel till I'm there. I havent paid, but am  little worried, they'll try to highball me at the counter knowing it's late at night and I'm jet lagged.

I tend to agree with Whitey on waiting until you pay to get there. Worse case scenario if you wait would be you showing up and they try to price gouge you like you mentioned...or tell you some bull[snip] like only the most expensive suites are available. But imagine if you prepaid, showed up and there were no rooms (I've seen it happen several times in Colombia). It's not likely as there's really nothing spectacular going on in Barranquilla during the time we'll be arriving. But if that did happen to occur you'd have a hell of a time getting your money refunded. That I can guarantee you.

That's right , huh? Carnaval is over. And good point about refunds. I paid an extra 50 for insurance on the flight tickets, and even then they have stipulations. Well, I'm set on El Prado and just need to remember room 202.

No disrespect guys I just really dont see much I like about this thread. You want to go to Colombia great! Pick your city. pick your dates....get a hotel... get your tickets. 3 months or less in advance make those connections with the local chicas online. Get their contact info & let them know what you want them to know about when you'll be there. Have a nice list of ladies ready to meet.... I'd suggest a newspaper ad posting too rather than an agency. But if you see a good local agency maybe they can give you a competitive price quote and manage your newspaper ad (if you trust them).
Bottom line is I would not date and play 20 questions over the internet. You don't need the build up and pressure and you can't find the one and talk about K1s over the web... this is something you feel after you meet the one.
If internet conversations make you hear wedding bells... then I think there should be some other personal issues you should address... because you can only learn the basics about someone online... the rest you have to learn on the ground. You don't meet THE ONE online... you meet her on the ground in her country. Cupid doesnt shoot you in the ass with Google.
Retiring in Tela, Honduras is 14,600 days (haha)

I didn't say you have to meet them in a club.  Actually a club isn't a good place to meet a wife, necessarily.  It is a good place to socialize and meet people though.  I also see that you're under the impression that all latinas in the usa are "trashy", that all women in colombia are.... classy?  Lmao!!  Keep thinking like that bro.
.
The point is to find a woman who isn't corrupted by our culture.

If their "culture" is so much better than ours why are so many of them so desperately trying to get the hell out of their country and their "culture"?  I don't know if anyone's told you this but colombia does happen to be the prostitution capital of the world, something to keep in mind.

One who only trusts and doesnt need anyone else but you, especially not found at a night club. Now on that note, I'm gonna start going to a salsa club here "Glorias" to bone up on some dancing.

This is a great idea.  Get out and socialize.  Salsa clubs are a great place to meet good, classy people.  I highly recommend taking real lessons that will get you up to at least an intermediate level.

This is good news if it's true.  Hopefully you can get everything wrapped up in less than a year.  Heck you might even inspire me to try to bring a woman here to marry.  :)

Htown. This argument is getting old. You and I might be hispanics, but we're not the same I bet. For one, I'd bet my taste in music is different than yours. What I dont understand is, what are you doin on this site? PL is about meeting women outside the country. It's also about the commonality of the attitude of ALL american women. Do you think this site is only about the lack luster of white women only?

Htown. I think you're trying too hard to sell or defend the latin ladies here. Just because you and I are latin doesnt mean you and I are the same. You dont walk in my shoes, and I'd bet your style and taste in music differs as well. I'm a man who knows what he sees, been, and done. You won't convince me, and your arguments are weak imo. Grown man..get it? This site is dedicated to the adventure of finding women outside of the US. If you don't like it, what you doin here? Why does it give you a vagina rash when I talk about the latin ladies here? You tell me you've been to the east coast latin night clubs and havent witnessed what I mentioned? I think you talk more than you've actually done my friend. Then, you visit my town and tell me where I need to go to meet girls. My town, as though I need lessons on how and where to pick up women. I've got a friend who talks similar. He's on the hunt for poosy. I dont hang out with him much.

I've been to south florida and the rio grande valley and basically felt like I was in latin america.  Everybody speaks spanish there and the latin culture seems much more prevalent than the gringo culture.

I only mentioned these places because I see that you seem to be in somewhat of a hurry and the visa process may or may not slow you down.

But if you're smart I think you can get what you want in colombia and in a timely fashion.

Maybe I'm smoking too much weed because, I don't remember saying my conversations with these women were only internet based. The K1 visa answer was all I was really looking for. I wasnt looking for advice on the birds and the bees. It's hard to remember to keep the questions short and to the point on this site.

Stevie's taken the most important first step of making concrete plans to hop on a plane and get down there. I've spoken with him on the phone on several occasions and we've been communicating via email and text as well. The guy seems like a very intelligent, successful, straight shooter to me. Not at all desperate to be the next Gringo/Colombiana success story, just open to the possibility and curious about everything that goes into it. He's a little older than me so he may be more "motivated" to find a life partner whether it's in Colombia, Panama, the U.S. or wherever else. My earlier post in this thread was just recommending he enjoy himself a little. As I've stated numerous times on the board...there's nothing wrong with getting down there and exploring instead of hopping on the first woman you think is a good catch. Sure...you may run the risk of losing someone really special, but I believe it's equally risky to make a big commitment to one before exploring the possibilities of something even better.

Most of the guys on the board that are happily married to a foreign woman had a little "trial by fire" dating somewhere in the world before finding that special someone. At this point I look at that learning experience as nothing short of necessary to be successful when you decide to eventually take the big plunge. The fire I'm talking about usually doesn't burn too bad though. For most of us I think it's probably one of the greatest experiences of our lives. I just want my buddy Stevie to enjoy it to the fullest.  8)

Dude, your writing skills are magnificent. Easy to read. You should consider writing a book about anything. I bought a new bathing suit for the trip. It's a yellow tiger print speedo. Some black socks with sandles, and a panama hat and oakleys are the perfect ensemble. Chicks won't be able to resist.
