I don't even think this guy knows how insulting he is. Low levels of education combined lack of reasoning skills are usually the point to factors when dealing with people like this. He's  not even aware how off he is. He just plods along like a bull in a china shop. Many people have many different reasons why we decided to travel to Colombia (Latin America) but I can only imagine that for some it's a point of running out of options.
Based on his wild assumptions which he concludes as fact he just makes it up as he goes.
Sir you really amaze me how you can even comment about a country you spent less then a couple of weeks in. Colombian women who you never been in a relationship with or married too.
You words indicate how small your world is, Anything beyond your reasoning or understanding you shut out then change so that your better able to understand it. What you wind up with is a distorted view of the truth. It makes sense why your looking and why success will be difficult for you to obtain.

Htown, you might want to tone down your schtick. To those of us who've had the nuts to follow through with a long distance relationship and bring a Colombiana here, we post here to get constructive feedback and occasionally to vent about real situations that involve people we actually care about, so before you start slinging around your assumptions and trying to make people look like buffoons, you might want to gain some experience first..

Your posting from your phone? Is it one of those big Galaxys, cuz i couldnt see thses little letters on my android.  Anyhow, from what I read here you're not as been there done that as it appears. Turns out, you're just another texmex like me except it seems probably younger. So, where's your novia from? If she's from here, no need to go to Colombia, right?  I'll let you in on a little secret why a hispanic like me looks to latin america for a decent woman: I'm a conservative. Most women here are liberal. I'm not. I simply got older and looked around. Yes, I know you'll quote me on the pot smoking thing. Yes I do. I'm an old school liberal by definition. That term has changed and is an oxymoran these days. Anyhow, I'll stop before you dissect, and twist my words like you did the guy that started this thread. Oooh, balls across the nose.. ;D

In my tony montana voice...Now ju talkin to me baby, that I like!  Jajaja!!!

Yea I'm with my mexicana novia right now.  She's 25, came here six years ago from mexico.  She's about as traditional as a woman could get.  Doesn't drink, smoke, or cuss.  She's a great cook and is one of the cleanest girls I've ever met.  I have no clue what she sees in me.  I don't treat her anywhere as good as she deserves.  I go out partying without her all the time and she's caught me cheating on her more than once.  If there was a way I could pass her over to a guy like you I would do it.  She needs a guy who wants to settle down and treat her right and I'm not it.  Oh yeah and she's about 5'3 110 lbs.  As adorable as can be.  You could definitely get a girl like her without leaving texas.  But  hey since you got the time and money colombia will be an awesome experience for you.

You bastard! I never get that lucky. Like I said, here in Austin, we don't get the Mexicanas, and I'm not  to moving to Houston, San Antonio and surely not back the border for it. How did you land that? I actually have been playing the latin cupid looking for Mexicanas within the state, but they all have kids. No thanks. What you have there is a golden. Me thinks you're between 25 and 32. I was a chick magnet on a harley before 35, then things changed overnight. For one, I quit riding the harley, another, I started losing more hair and growing it where I didnt want it. Now in my fortys I cringe when a gal my age walks up to me a flirts at a bar. They look so much older and time wasted. Not to mention all the ugly tattoos and difference in beliefs. ANy chance you could post a pic of her to make everyone jealous?

Lol, I doubt a pic of my novia would make anybody here jealous.  I think you're wrong about there not being girls like her in austin.  Austin has just as many latino immigrants as anywhere else in texas, you just have to know where to find them.  I'm actually going to austin tomorrow and I'll do a little recon.  Two places I can for sure tell you to check out would be Andojitos Hondurenos on Cameron rd which has a salvadorean restaurant right next to it and Las Hamacas on rundberg which is another honduran restaurant.  There are a ton of mexican restaurants in the east side you can go to also.  Make friends with the waitresses.  Become a regular.  Don't be shy about telling them that you're looking to meet a nice, marriage minded traditional girl.  Tip well and smile.  I guarantee they have a friend, a neigbor, a cousin who would love to meet a mature, marriage minded, established american guy.  Practice your social skills, you're going to need them when you go to colombia anyway.

Oh yea and I can introduce you to a SMOKING HOT salvadorean chick who owns her own beauty salon here in houston.  She's very single and is looking to open another beauty salon.  She needs 25k and has 10k already so she needs another 15k.  She's actually a very sincere, nice girl.  Very ambitious and not as simple as my novia but she's SMOKING HOT.  I had lunch with her yesterday and I'm trying to talk her into asking the bank for a loan but she doesn't want to borrow.  Then she proposed the idea of me partnering up with her and providing the 15k she needs.  I think she's already sizing me up as a potential boyfriend so it would be hard to become her business partner without hooking up with her.  My life is already complicated enough without getting too involved with this chick so I don't plan on taking her up on her idea, but whoever does end up snagging her is going to be one lucky bastard.  Oh and did I mention she's SMOKING HOT?  :)

I have to agree with htown that the story doesn’t sound right.  Your wife’s “ID” is a Colombian Cedula.  She has to present it at the passport counter when she leaves or arrives in Colombia so she obviously has it in her possession. If she has been in the US for two years how could it have been copied a couple of months ago?.  Registration or “matriculacion” of a car requires the stamp of a notaria who in turn requires a physical cedula, an original not a copy when they verify a transaction.  And it’s not just the matriculacion. The purchase of SOAT the obligatory insurance also requires the cedula as does the registration with RUNT and the “inspeccion mecanica”  assuming it’s not a first time registration of a brand new car.  Seems awfully unlikely that complete strangers accomplished all of this with out an original cedula.  If it really happened I would suspect that relatives are involved and pretending to be her, reported her cedula as lost or stolen in which case they could get a “contraseña” right away that holds the legal weight of a cedula but jeez that’s a stretch. Add to that that there are police checks  or “retens” all the time and any vehiclel that passes through one of those that has outstanding violations or bad papers is hauled off to the “patio” where the owner must show correct papers and “salvo conductos” for paid fines in order to get it out…well plus the patio cost. I may have belabored the point but I wonder if the OP understands Spanish.

I hear you though, about why go so far when I can find something here. I think it goes the same for any american dude looking for latin women. I currently see a mexican gal I met at an east side bar, that always wears the big loud belt buckle, elastic jeans with a big butt. She's real texmex or norteno if you know what i mean. She also has kids. Nah, I want something totally fresh and from the source. Besides, I want to explore what I didn't when I was younger.

Oh and did I mention she's SMOKING HOT?  :)
Thanks, but I'll pass. The areas you mention I ONLY go to eat for lunch when passing by, and wouldn't frequent at night. I won't frequent a restaurant several times to pick up on a waitress. I'd rather frequent a classy tavern where there isn't loud theme music and there's latin ladies. THAT is what's missing here. You wont convince me deifferent of that, been here 19 years.  But yeah I know the places you talk about. The east side of town has changed a lot, but even then, no you can't say the latin melting pot us rampant here. Salvadorans and hondurans I'm not interested in as much as say colombian or interior mexicanas.

These were pretty much my sentiments as soon as someone brought up the possibility that something fishy was going on, but there can be so many exceptions to the rules and extenuating circumstances in a place like Colombia I'd be slow to start pointing fingers at family without any hard evidence. A few $50,000 pesos bills in the right hands will get you a long way down there.
